The lack of comments means most people didn't stick around. This wasn't a good album and still isn't. JVZ never had a great band. The success of his band was far below another not great Southern Band, 38 Special. At least 38 created a ton of memorable songs. Were they great at improvisation, not so much. Did they write their better songs, no other people wrote the hits for 38 Special. We all hoped so much for a 2nd wave of great Southern bands, but the audience of the 80's was given Cyndi Lauper, Billy Idol, Billy Squier, Duran Duran, Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, Tears for Fears, crappy Hair Bands, etc. Southern Rock was DOA in the 80's, and JVZ and his band proved the great bands had come and literally in some cases, the talented people had died: Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Duane Allman, Berry Oakley, Tommy Caldwell, Lowell George, etc.
I Agree with you for most part. By 1983 Southern Rock was pretty much over. This Van Zant 1985 is not a Southern Rock record. Its an Excellent Aor Melodic Rock Record. The Johnny Van Zant Band records were more Southern Rock influenced but this is a different band. @@jaxflfreebird
