Nice thoughts about the new rules. As a spectator, the problem I see right now is the game becomes less interesting when the curlers simplify the situations in some cases. I understand it's part of the strategy, which makes curling charming. The challenge is to avoid passive play while maintaining the diversity of the game.
Sorry to say curling & pool are VERY similar... there is drag on the pool ball as as well the spin on the cue ball does affect the object ball and where it goes.
