I don't agree, Inter-Miami is not a mess. Messi has improved their goal kicking immensely. The place where IM suffers is defense. The IM goalie is not bad. He has stopped a lot of shots. However, in this game one of the St. Louis corner kicks bounced off Miami defenders, and that is just sloppy.

@@philswiftreligioussect9619 he is okay, not great, not bad. He has had some bad games yes, and it is more noticeable for goalkeepers since mistakes usually end up in goals. But he has also had some really good games with great saves. Second goal, I'd say a better goalkeeper could have stop it. First goal you have to give it to the shooter, unexpected, precise, and powerful shot. I'd say the defense is the priority number one they need to improve.

The team offense is getting better. Kicking balls into the goal instead of around it. Very nice complex offensive plays involving two or more players. Players other than Messi scoring in every game. This was evident in the Vancouver game (no Messi). Fun to watch. The defense needs help. They often get scored on early in the game. Carpenter is not a bad goalie.

Callendar looked invincible last year in the League’s Cup… he saved Miami on SEVERAL occasions with amazing stops-- however-- he is almost a liability out there in some games this season, keeping Miami from getting 3 pts a couple of times this year. Luckily they have the best offense in MLS, but Miami will have to find some kind of answers with their back line and defensive midfield, not to mention Callendar will have to at LEAST make all the saves that are perfectly possible to make.

The s Saint Louis score was three to three. So, I think we would have to credit both teams with equal goalie performance (and St Louis had to put up with Messi). The Miami goalie is not bad. He may not be the best, but he is not bad. Having Messi in the league has challenged and improved other teams, they are watching and trying to figure out any weakness Maimi might have, That seems to be their backfield defenders.

I’ve been saying this… he’s the worst
Drake has not be so good this season but he is good enough for the team with good defense. Inter Miami has no defense for crying out loud. Aviles go into challenges recklessly and pick up yellow card almost every game thereby reducing his toughness in defending. There’s no leader at the back hence they are always caught out of position. Busquest and Alba contribute so much in attack but has no pace so the defense misses extra bodies when the opponent is in transition against Miami. Also Messi and Suarez does not defend which also further reduces the number of persons defending.
But all these can be corrected if they have two solid center backs and an energetic right back that can go forward in attack and still return quickly when the opponent is in transition. Two experienced centre backs can organize the box during set pieces to help stop the unnecessary goals they concede from set pieces.
Last season when they had Miller at the back and Yedlin we saw some good saves from Callender which helped the team to win that trophy.
So let’s look beyond the keeper and see other underlying issues.
Emi Martinez would be nobody if it wasn’t for the Argentina team. Playing with bad defenders at Aston villa would easily deceive all of us.
