But that's the problem, isn't it? A quarter century later, and niggaz are still at it.
It seems to me that Rock's routine back in 1996 was, aside from making people laugh, designed to do two things: (1) inform white people that there is a sizable portion of black Americans who despise black degenerates as much as they do, and, more importantly, (2) encourage decent black Americans to police their own.
The first goal has been so successful that, whatever the media narrative was back in '96, the current one has shot way past "not all," to "none, but if any, it is the white man's fault." This is how a news reporter can broadcast from a riot and say with a straight face that it is a "mostly peaceful protest" while a building is being burned down in frame behind him. As for the second, decent black Americans are either not doing anything to fix the problem, or whatever it is they are doing has, at best, not worked, and more realistically, made things worse.

I laughed hard at the book joke from personal experience. I worked at a group home that housed boys in the juvenile justice system. We had many boys of every race and not _once_ in nearly three years did I see any of them read something from the library of books we had. I said the same thing to my co-workers a couple times. "If I ever needed to hide a lot of cash I would just stash it in one of the books. It would be safer than Fort Knox."

I'm a 61 year old white man. I consider myself fortunate in that I grew up in middle class, racially mixed city in western PA. I saw first hand strong black families, mothers and fathers who were always there for their kids. Extended families with brothers and sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles. I played sports, went to school with really good kids. I see the stereotypes and know that this is not the real world. There a so many values that people of all colors share but instead of celebrating our shared values the focus is on the things that divide us.

It’s a classic bit from Rock. The language may be different, but the concept of this idea applies to many different races and groups of people. We can all identify with the frustration you feel at being generalized to be the same as the worst versions of people in your race, ethnicity, religion, or whatever categorization someone is using to make assumptions about you. That’s a sad statistic about how many white people don’t have any black friends. I can’t imagine what my life would be like without the diverse group of friends I’ve had for most of my life.

Your comment about 60-65% of white people not having a black friend is very true. I grew up in an outer suburban community and there was not a single black person in it. Not one.
Then, after University, I joined the US Military. I trained with some black American Patriots. At first, it perplexed me. I had never ever met a black man in my life. All of that changed after 22 years in our military. My 2 best friends were black Americans. I even hate saying the color. I hate it. I don't ever consider that in our friendship. Ever. I say it here to simply make a point.
Tim , a black man from Syracuse New York was my best man at my wedding to my wife of now 40 years. Jim, a black man was my senior officer, my mentor, and a Best Man at my wedding. Yes, I had two. A peer, Tim, and Jim, a senior officer.
Jim groomed me. He took me under his tutelage. He made me a successful US Naval officer . I love them both as brothers.
They were not born to privilege. They simply took full advantage of the American Opportunity and succeeded. And, Jim saw to it that I did as well. I ended up marrying my senior officer, Jim's youngest sister.
Yes, a white guy who had never ever met a black person in his life married a black woman. His senior officer's youngest sister. And, we're still in love 40 years later. When people's minds are not poisoned by outside influences and agendas wonderful things can happen.
I don't know if you'll ever see this comment. But, I hope you do and I hope others do as well. This country and its people are not the horrible racists so many with an anti-American Agenda try so very hard to perpetuate for their own selfish purposes.

it's tough when you don't work with any or they don't live in your neighborhood. I just moved and my black buddy lives in the neighborhood. You can bet I'm going to go visit him. We used to play tennis and golf together now and then. My son hung out with his daughter. I'm conservative, he's not. But we have a lot in common. We concentrate on what we have in common.

    • @premanadi
      @premanadi ปีที่แล้ว +1

Black people are like 12% of the US population, and tend to be concentrated in certain areas much more than others. So it is no surprise at all that most white people don't have any black friends. I also grew up in a suburb where there were virtually no black people - I don't remember a single black kid at any of my schools. And now I work in a profession where there are almost no black people at all, so I have no opportunities to meet them (much less become good friends). I see black people constantly, but they are strangers on the street or in stores.
None of which would be any excuse for being racist - no more than the fact that I don't have an Muslim friends, or some other ethnic group that I never encounter.

Almost all of us - black, white, whatever - got up in the morning, went to work, came home ate dinner, did what needed doing and went to bed. Weekends were for getting stuff done, and having friends and family over. Yes, the cultures were a little different, but over 90% of the time we were all doing the same stuff. Probably 15-20% of the neighborhood were people who didn't share the same work ethic or morals. None of us who worked and acted right - black, white whatever - liked the lazy, violent, and ignorant folks.

Fellas, I'm white, from south Texas. Plenty of Mexican, but not that many black people. Fast forward to today. When I'm in the city, I'm damn sure watching out for "N"'s and skinheads. I see plenty of black people, and it's not in my head that they will "rob me", or some bad sh*t. But, when I spot a "N", which is pretty easy to pick out, if you're looking, I pay attention! Same with skinheads, or white supremacist. If I spot them, I know trouble isn't far behind. Just like Chris is saying, there are different white people, and there are different black people.

For real though my kids had to hop in a circle. At an apartment i had deep in the hood I had just given my three kids baths and put them to bed they got to sleep and my girl friend next door we would keep an eye out which meant you gotta run to the store we would sit in a chair by our front doors and our apt doors they didnt face the street the front apartment had garages the street our driveway parking the garages and their big glass living room window and inside it was their stars to their bedrooms and that wall, behind that wall was my bathroom the bathroom wall to my hallway then the hall and wall to my livingroom...and next door same layout my friends apt. So i said hey im goin to the corner store can u keep an eye sure she said and i get in my car pick up my wine and a bottle for my friend and my laundry soap i pull up to our apt and see people standing around frozen and all over the ground little look like tea candles like single flames but like hundreds of then and im thinking our hippy neighbors are spun out on acid again...and then i notice its glass and the car that was parked next to mine had its windows smashed out and then i see the big window and my neighbors are crying and screaming and saying be careful tammy we got shot at we had a drive by and the bullets went through and i think oh my god my babies....i park across the street i run to my apt my friend is crying and shaking she said they ran and stood at your door and shot into the front apt i said the babiex she said i checked them no bullets went through their bedroom but there are alot of them through your bathroom cuz they shot from the street through their window ....so i kept running into check on the kids i scooped them into my arms and searched all over checkingbtheir heads face back stomach arms made them talk to me then kissed them said prayers and tucked them back under the covers and the next thing i knew i had cops at my door and here they needed to come inside and also my back patio the slider was still locked but the gang had jumped the fence and stood at my front door and at back fence inside my patio and shot into front apt. The cops showed me four bullet holes and they had gone thru right where i sat and had dried my kids off and powdered and dressed them fixed their hair for bed and brushed their teeth and the bullets went through that level thru the bathroom walls into and out of the hall walls and into my couch in the living room ....also they found shells all over my back patio ...so cops leave i go clean glass i sweep and sweep and get everything cleaned up help neighbors cover their shot up window. We all my neighbor and i offer to take the kids and anyone who wanted to sleep over but their kids and older cousins were getting picked up by uncles and right after the kids left with four adults still staying in their apt only 2 hours later about to finally lay down i hear pounding and like kicking i open my front door and see lije 5 guys one of them shoulder against my screen door holding a gun pointed at someone in front apt and he looks at me and winks and says youre okay mommy dont come out here right now close your door not right now mommy...i said my babies are in here he asked ur babies in this apt here ?i said no he said no worry then close....your.....door....please...you better listen mamma. I said yes i am im sorry...i closed my door and i heard pop pop pop pop and shells were rolling under my screen between my front door and screen...and i could see a guy jumping back out of ny back patio and then heard everyone running ....my girl friend and her old man were yelling outside swearing and angry and the cops came again and got the shells...the casings from my back patio and front door. When they were still there i grabbed my babies and went to stay at my grandmas house and woke up in the morning and my family helped me pack up we got a uhaul put my stuff in storage and i found another place...they did 2 more drive bys another one at 4am and another that next night at midnight. Try to live peaceful and family like finally get the alcoholic husband into rehab and things are looking good and just finished paying off my car and the next thing you know, i got cops retrieving bullets from the back of my couch and gang members standing in my patio shooting at my neighbors oh btw all those glass and flames were bottles of gasoline bombs thrown at the front neighbors word had it they were sellin dope without paying dues on the gangs territory they stepped over the line...i guess that justifies putting innocent kids lives in danger ill never be able to wrap my head around such a self centered entitled piece of shit behavior....and i hope i never understand it.,everyone has a choice. You want this world to be better...then be the change you want to see in this world it begins by walking talking living changed for the better.

Hey guys, I enjoyed and got more out of your commentary than I did with your reaction. (even though that was great too!)I'm white, but understand as best I can what you are talking about. I am aware that unfair stereotypes are unfortunately still alive and well. My own family is transracial, but I must admit, I don't have any black friends. That's crazy, I know, but I live in a predominately white area and honestly don't even cross paths with many black people. I'd welcome a new friend of any color if they welcomed me too. And yes, you're right. There are more white people on welfare than black people . Very insightful video. Please keep them coming!

The word slave came from a race of people in Europe called as "Slavic". Other European's owned other European's serval hundreds of years before the trans Atlantic slave trade. My dads family was owned in Karelia over 300 years. This slave trade was called the Barbary slave trade, where the US marine free them from the ottomans sultans. We finns/karelian was often shipped to the Crimea slave market, where we was highly sought after. During the great wrath in 1714-21 they almost extinct the Finnish race.

I’m white(I’ve seen this Chris Rock special before)but I’ve never even thought about the fact that black people might feel like they might have something to live up to or prove. When I watched it I felt like yep we feel that way about our people on Maury or Jerry Springer. If I’ve ever felt anything close to that it’d be lately, but the opposite, I feel like I need to show I’m not racist. In comparison yours would be a worse feeling. Growing up I never even thought of these things like this. I don’t know if it isn’t discussed or things were really different. I had plenty of close relationships with black kids and now as an adult. I just feel so sad about the decline of race relations in our country. I feel the MSM does fan the flames. I enjoy your channel and hearing your point of view. God Bless🙏🏼

With regards to your comments about having Black friends or having friends of a different race.
I think people meet others of a different race when they are in school, at work, or at some other place where people hang out and it would be a chance meeting. Maybe they can become friends or acquaintances.
I think there are very few people who go out of their way to meet/socialize with other races. I've seen youtubers who can speak multiple languages and they would go to specific neighborhoods so they can speak with people in their native language.
Sometimes, just dressing a certain way can make people by wary of you. In my younger days, when I'm inside a store, if I have to reach into my pocket, I would walk into an area so I can be seen before I reach into my pocket.
It's unfortunate that some people don't care if they consistently make their race look bad.

I'm a blind 33-year-old white guy, and I guess as far as white people are concerned, I'm in the minority. I have, or have had, friends who were Black, Hispanic, Asian, and probably other ethnicities I can't think of at the moment. Personally I couldn't care less about race, gender, sexual orientation... none of that matters. For me, it's all about the character of a person. If I think you're cool, I'll befriend you, and what you look like means less than nothing to me.
To quote a line from the English dub of my favorite anime: "sometimes connections between people run deeper than where they're from, or what color skin they have." As a white man, I haven't faced much discrimination based on my race, though I have dealt with it because of my disability, which still sucks. It makes no sense to judge people based on factors beyond anyone's control, but sadly so many people do it anyway.

I grew in a small town, no black people at the time really. Fairly diverse community, just not that demographic. I was 12 when I first saw a black man in person. He was in a bright white suit and hat with bright red shoes. It looked quite sharp. I must have been stating because the man looked at me and asked "what you looking at, white girl?" I was super shy so I turned away embarrased. It wasnt until college that I developed friendships with a wide variety of people.
