We had a terrible microburst 2 wks ago(it was really bad and I lived in Alabama , was there during the 2011 outbreak) My fridge /freezer is empty. Can't keep throwing out food. I keep a weeks worth ... that's it ! Miss the south ,done here in the north. And it's year round with no power. Hot and cold. God bless you and keep you safe. 🙏
Kinda normal temps for middle of the summer for me. I'm 73 and remember many many summers of just melting temps way before we ever got air conditioners. We older folks remember the many days we just sweated and did our outside chores anyway. We'll survive this as we survived many other times. Thank you, Mark, for your hard work.
I remember many hot summer days too. The farm work went on. We bailed hay and straw in those 100 deg days. It got a lot hotter up in the barn where we stacked the bails. People are softer these days. Turning on the car remotely to start the air conditioner? We would have never imagined that.
thankfully I have some good shade trees that shade the roof (keeps house 10 to 15F cooler than otherwise). Let the AC run at night to flush humdity out of house), AC works more efficiently in cooler nite temps (less stress on unit)
Yeah but you old timers got to remember that you aren't in your 20s-30s anymore. I remember a few cases of old "tough as nails" drivers over the years that have frozen to death in their trucks at truck stops because they still had that 40 and younger mentality while they were in their 70s or older. Heat can be just as bad. You don't have nothing to prove in your older age and nobody is gonna make fun of you for trying to stay cool in the AC. I used to do maintenance work in the desert with temps around 125F and I wouldn't think any less of anybody trying to stay cool indoors. Just don't let pride or competing with your younger self get you hurt is all I am saying. Stay safe and God bless.

No problem in south Texas I grew up in the 1960s and 70s with no ac. Average temp in summer 98-110 we played in the shade of mesquite trees went fishing and swimming at night..we survived. This is normal for us

Don’t forget we had a very cool spring with lots of rain. The trees are loaded with leaves. Then it eventually jumped to summer. I remember two or three years ago the trees were sparse and losing leaves in early summer. These are weather cycles.

The tactic was weaponized during the Korean war and has been used to control our economy for decades. Cloud seeding….those multiple strips of vapor trails that are wider more lasting than from typical jet airplanes are actually chemical trails. Technology today is very advanced and these plumes can and are seeded with some very powerful substances. Weather control in and of itself can be a weapon but imagine the other microscopic dangers can be spread from them. A “plandemic” comes to mind.

Summer naturally comes with highest expected temperatures. The southeast we are not surprised with high temperatures. Performing outside work in the morning for older people is a good idea. I remember way way way back 24 yrs ago in around about the yr 2000 we had one of the worst ice storms in the south. Took power out on entire citys for a month in some places . We used the gas stove and candles to heat. We were also the only source of light for four city blocks because part of our christmas decore was 6 candle lit lanterns that we considered carrying the spirit of christmas and good will on to the next year. The flame of one candle always stayed lit while the others got changed. Long story short i feel for those who have no power and how rough the weather can be . Especially not having power in the heat or cold . I hope this brings you hope and light in the darkness. Even in the darkest times someone has a beacon of light out for ya.
The heating up! Well, this whole Beryl is suspicious....a lot of Houston and surrounding areas are with out power.... they said all back by Wednesday and now saying Sunday,. Many people with extension cords going across the street to help those that don't have power yet. Wow @11:48 you are showing significantly hotter heat indexes across the middle of Kansas, Missouri and Illinois than what the deep south is expected to have. It is not unheard of to get heat waves like this in Kansas City from July through the beginning of September but August is usually the worst. I don't even want to think about August. Mark is absolutely correct about prior day hydration. If working outside you might want to look into salt pills with electrolytes. They are often used by athletes prior to am event at a hot venue and are taken with water. My employees have had great results with these.

As another person said, this is day 4 in the Houston area. We've heard all of Centerpoint Energy's excuses. They are a public Chinese fire drill. Most residents are without power and AC. Their food is spoilling without refrigeration. Crews should be working around the clock. Instead, they quit before sundown. Emergency Line Crews are sitting in parking lots awaiting Centerpoint's diection. There have been officials stating it may be the end of July before power is restored. I pray the Lt Governor will hold the Centerpoint individuals accountable. May be a Democrat lead city or state, and I will appreciate their incompetency. Let's pray for a cool front!😅
