    producing is a great tool for writing, it makes music easier to make for the average person, and it can create sounds not achievable anywhere else, but when you use producing to sound like real instruments then its stupid unless you cant get real instruments, i just want to let people know that yes a drum machine is perfect, it will never fall out of time, but it will also never "groove" like a person, the reason you like music is the human element whether you think so or not.

    • @MakePopMusic
      @MakePopMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can absolutely play and program a drum machine to have micro timing issues and swing to give a "human" feel. Most of the time acoustic drums are tracked now, they're lined perfectly to grid anyway. But I am a huge fan of using at least 1 or 2 organic elements to give a production life. This track had live tracked guitars and a couple perc loops that I played myself and then processed :D

      Does not matter. Think about many huge celloists or pianists. It's not possible to do everything. This is the reason we need pianists, drummers, singers, writers AND producers. And even then you need people who are awesome sound-engineers and mixers/masteringpeople.
      Music-production ALWAYS is teamwork :)

    Hey, man, I felt like saying this, this video does have a lot of comments already, but yet, I still wanna say a big thank you for all the work done. It must be a lot of hours of a background work, such as recording vocals etc, a lot of arrangement, like those little things ike keeping your instruments in separate color folders etc. So, honestly I'm blown away by how organic the video is while it's so hard to keep that kind of the workflow so smooth. Basically that's what I'm impressed by. When I do stuff like that, my projects do take time because of the workflow and how instruments sit in the track too tight, fighting each other sometimes, that's how many ideas I usually have. And this one here came out quite organic, organized and nice. So, good job and thanks for all of your work. Here's a high five man! :)

You force me to simplify my music … and not analyzing my own stuff to death … I’m a new fan and subscriber … your lessons can apply to any style .. from simple to advanced… your a great reminder the audience needs to connect to the music …. They don’t always understand advanced formulas of music theory… thanks for making music fun again 🙏

      All about trial and error, and getting to know your plugins and your personal style. I normally look for "what needs to be added to what I've already got? Does it need more body, more width, more warmth, more transient, more texture, etc. And then I can either make or find the sound closest to what I hear in my head, then just eq and process them so they blend together nicely.

    Holy shit this was elucidating. I always kept trying to add fresh parts to add depth to my tracks. I'm just gonna experiment with layering now. You have so few distinct melodies/progressions yet there's tons of contrast between the parts. Incredible!

      Thank you! Pop is all about keeping the arrangement small and simple, but the sonics huge and encompassing in my opinion!

    Thank you for this awesome content! I have a question: Is this already mixed? Or would you give the session to a mixing engineer afterwards?

    • @MakePopMusic
      @MakePopMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This isn't mixed. Just a rough mix as I produce. I always kind of mix as I go, and then I personally go back once the production is finalized and make my tweaks and do the fine detailed mixing. If I wasn't going to mix it myself, I would wrap up my production and print the stems then with my processing AI do as I go.

    Hey Austin, maybe can you make a tutorial or even split it into like 3 parts on creating an arrangement and production for your song before you record vocals, because I can speak for myself and I’ve already written lyrics and melodies but I cant seem to make the production kind of sync with it, no matter what I try I can’t fit my bass and snaps to anything? Anyways I saved your songs on Spotify, thanks for viewing this whether or not you can help me I don’t know but keep up the good work anyways!! 👍 😊

    Listening to your track, I came up with my own chorus melody which I think is much catchier. Wanna hear it?
