      Maybe the reason he is able to save up for a 20k pool is because he fights for every dollar. Maybe you should be taking tips from him instead of criticizing someone who is better off than you

    • @A_Goat

      A $20,000 payment for a pool is not getting by; that is being fortunate regardless of the circumstance. how you even got defensive over this comment is beyond me.
      Yeah the man probably worked hard and was smart enough to make those ends meet. Yet this comment does not undermine this guys work ethic or how he made his money at all. It's just a joke... Neither you or him know how he afforded the pool so relax befor you start jumping to conclusions buddy. I get what you are saying and you're right but why end it by saying "he is better than you." That literally makes no sense and seems more like you're lashing out emotionally. It's literally one sentence from this guy and you have instantly determined this stranger in the video to be better than him because he bought a pool and you didn't like this individual crack about it and attempt to flip it to imply he can't even afford a pool. I've never seen someone go Full-Retard but I'll be damned! You're the epitome of a man-child, Rick. Well done.

    I love when someone spends 20 grand on a pool and then says he has to watch every penny. Now for the damage to the pavers, he is 100% justified in wanting the mess fixed.

  • @babysealclub11

    This old man is a perfect example playing the victim. An easier fix would be just flipping over the stained bricks. He went out of his way to find the most expensive alternative.

    • @brockreynolds870
      @brockreynolds870 ปีที่แล้ว

      You cna't flip them over... paver bricks have ribs on one side to help them stay in place, they have an "up" side, and a "down" side to them. Having said that... a pressure washer would get that off. Porous bricks are only issue if you spill stain on it, or something like that. Those pavers should have been sealed, anyway... you can spill wine on them, and stain them otherwise...

      Pyroman / The old man stated," In this day and age and economy,you gotta count every penny you have just to get by." Puting in a $20,000 pool isn't exactly "just getting by." I think that statement is what myself and others are focused on. Poor choice of words. That being said,he's totally in the right to want his $800 back.

      When you work hard for you money, your entitled to be compensated when someone fucks up. Just b/c ppl may or may not have money doesnt mean that either is not entitled for what they payed for. by your logic any large amount of money spent on something by a wealthy person isn't entitled to fairness. If you believe this is fair b/c they have money then your literally looking at the definition of communism, another thing u Americans fear to deaths end. Why hate on em for being victims maybe just try to understand their frustrations.

    There is nothing wrong to seek loss compensation by the owner. My question is why didn't the workers mask, cover, or shield around the pool during their work? This is also known as "prep work"...
    Whether they muriatic acid to clean or replacing the affected ones, the gentleman is pursuing a life principle. He just sees the principle he is pursuing bigger than the others (e.g. others can cheat you, you win some and loose some, don't be a cheap ass, etc.).

  • @rjweiss1
    @rjweiss1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a huge issue with pool building. The pool shell is sprayed with thick cement and unless the pool is built first every square inch of every other existing surface within about 10-15 feet has to be covered or it can get over spray. It all comes down to the pool builder hiring sh**y sub contractors and not providing enough oversight

    Typically when you have a contractor work at your place. Have a solid agreement which is called a contract. Then specify the details and payment agreements. I typically would have paid half to start and the other half when everything was completed. I also withhold 10-15% of the final payment for up to 30 days to ensure everything has been met to my expectations and the contractors did everything they were suppose to do in order to complete the project. Everyone learns one hard lesson to get this right. This gentleman had $20k to spend on a new pool but is having an issue for $800. I’m sure he doesn’t even care about the money, to him it’s probably peanuts but it’s the principle. Those contractors should have done what they promised.

    This guy lost a lot of sympathy with his watch every penny remark but in fairness people spend that kind of money largely for the way it looks.
    So to have a nice looking pool installed and the surrounding areas look destroyed is going to cause a problem.
    This type of thing is common when working in finished areas with cement. Leaking wheelbarrows and mixers and just simple screwups cause this type of problem.
    Very easy to clean up before it is allowed to dry , just plain water to rinse the lime out of the mix.
    But even after , if they can install that pool then they could certainly replace a few pavers.
    The company should have sent one guy over with a cut off saw and replaced the pavers. Often times the customer has extra pavers saved from when they were laid so it cost you nothing but a couple of hours of labor.
    As long as this homeowner gave the company a chance to rectify the problem themselves , I can’t say he was wrong in billing them for the repair.

    a lot of negative comments on here make me laugh. bet you wouldn't be saying those things if you actually worked hard and saved up money to buy yourself something nice. maybe you should better yourselves instead of just doing the minimum and living pay check to pay check. I hear a lot of people complain that they are poor yet they have money to smoke several packs a day, drink beer several nights a week, expensive smart phone, tv, internet, eat out a lot, etc. maybe if you went without a few things and counted every dollar you could own a nice pool too. I never smoked but after I quit drinking I was surprised at the extra cash I had and was able to invest.

      well the pool could have been his retirement. might not be able to afford anything else nice and now has to live frugal. I think he wanted a nice place for his family and grand kids to play. If you bought a new car and the dealership put a huge dent in it would you just let it go? 800 bucks is a lot of money to a retired person. you would not believe how much money they have to spend on medical just to stay alive.

    Problem i found was the pool sales place told me to call their installer. Installer short cut parts of job then sales place says that has nothing to do with us. We just sell pool. Deceptive acts and practices?

      Clyde USA Pool place collects 97.5% of the revenue, so it should be 97.5% their fault. Too many places these days are using "contractors" these days to avoid insurance, taxes, and other overhead. When you look at it, most contractors are actually employees.

    It's amazing that these companies take months without a resolution but put them on the news and get a camera in their face and suddenly they pony up the cash.

      It's disgraceful is what it is. My grandfather did work like this and all deals were done on a handshake. He kept up his side of the bargain and the person that was paying him kept up his side because they kept their word. Contractors like this aren't worth their word and even then when they agree to something in print, they still don't follow up.
      If you're a man of your word you don't need contracts.

    • @someguy3717
      @someguy3717 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@umachan9286 i take it that you have never actual done contracting work. Hell even sub-contracting work. Its down right dumb on both parties to not have some kind of contract even if its not very detailed in its break up. My dad that i work for remodeling swimming pools and any rock/masonry work would tell you the same thing and he has done it for 40+ years and never advertised once and just by word of mouth we still have more work than possible yearound, so its not about work ethic or false principles. It a safety net for the homeowner and the contractor

    • @umachan9286
      @umachan9286 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Some Guy Oh no I have but that's to make sure the people I'm dealing with stay honest. A couple years back we needed some remodeling work done, my Uncle recommended a guy and could vouch for him. He did it the old way, with a handshake and he delivered on every single thing he said including a couple extra things he did gratis because of a problem he ran into. But that's not the point. The idea is in this video you have a company that signed a contract that messed something up, it keeps going around for months and months without any kind of resolution and then suddenly when there's a camera there and a reporter and it's going out on the news they suddenly find a way to resolve it and find the money right away.
      That's the point. The owner isn't an honest man. Why did it have to go so far? Why not resolve it when you knew there was a problem and you fucked up? With him even though there was a contract it was worthless because he had no principles.
