It's not easy to stand up and defend yourself especially when you go through something so traumatic and if it doesn't end and you continue to go through something bad throughout your life then it gets even more difficult to do something especially since the bad things don't stop happening to you sometimes you can't save yourself so it's not bad if someone else comes to save you it's not bad to depend on someone else it doesn't necessarily make one weak if they can't save themselves and have to only depend on others if anything it makes them strong for not giving up on life and finding comfort in someone else
