I've been working on this room makeover since the end of November and I am finally done! It's been such a long process (partly because I was a lazy bum) but I am so happy with the results. Hope you all like it as much as I do :)

I know sometimes it's easier to just trash everything but you can give furniture a second (or third or fourth) life also pretty easily by just listing it for free on FB or craigslist, or sometimes just leaving it at the curb!! Esp high quality, real wood pieces, so many people would love to get those for free to use or makeover
totally agree, putting them in the trash was such a waste :/

A tip for anyone who is also thinking about painting their room: when you buy a paint roller frame, buy an extension pole that you can attach to it. It saves so much time compared to painting with only a short paint roller. Paint along the trim with a brush like Julia did and then move on with the paint roller. Using the roller with an extension pole attachment will cover so much surface area in a couple of swipes!

I'm so glad you used a lot of the existing furniture you already had. It pains me to see people get rid of so much for room makeovers. It's not sustainable for people to feel like they have to replace all their possessions to have a trendy space.

Yet she threw away a perfectly good dresser and desk. Sell that stuff or leave it on the road for free.

my favorite part is the bed and lacy curtains. It's serene and soothing without being stark white. Love your style- the wooden clothing rack was a great choice. Best Wishes

The ledge is one of my favorite things about the room 💕
when painting a room you lose motivation SO quickly. i painted my bathroom and it was only the top part of the walls and it took me three days because i kept losing motivation to do it
For reals! Painting a room is a big task and you really need to commit 😭
I have a mirror that’s attached to my wall and when I painted I didn’t take it off and just painted around it

Wow it's nice that your parents didn't have violent reactions when you let go of stuff. I did this last year when I moved back home because of the pandemic as well but ended up having an argument 😅 and yep, all of the things that I was supposed to disposed are still here so I made a make-shift room since my old one was a storage now.

Oh trust me I had to convince them to let me throw these things out! At one point I carried the items out and my mom carried some back in 🤷🏻♀️
@@juliafei ohh it gave me an idea! I'll just sneak out some stuff when they're asleep and wait for the garbage collector to arrive so they wouldn't notice 😂 I think they wouldn't know unless I tell them (that's how much stuff we got here😂)

Omg! I’m a hoarder! I grew up in a family of hoarders… same thing as you… sentimentals & might needs times 1000 because both my parents were immigrants who had nothing and came from difficult times & poverty. So, we needed to hang on to everything in case we or a friend or relative needed something one day.
That, plus all the emotional shit that causes more hoarding!!!
Guess what??? I became a hoarder too! I have teens who hate that we have a cluttered house but my emotional shit weighs me down & it’s all so overwhelming.
I need someone like you to come over & just throw out all the shit we haven’t needed in 20 years! Help!!!
