If it an X, this actually needs some additional signs. So I suggest that you should survey your area and look for additional markers. Anyway, X gives a potential clue that you can dig on that spot. However, without any other clues that can confirm about it, it is pretty not sure.

There is no fixed distance when it comes to this sign, you just have to dig on the left side most or edge of the rock.

The metal rod about 6inch and it was almost inbaded it remain about an inch
It is a marker and I assume that it is embedded on an old tree. Anyway, it is interpreted like an arrow sign.
