I've always thought it's hilarious when people buy each other Christmas presents basically are canceling out the money they spend on each other. Whole thing is silly imo. I rather no one buying me a thing
I got into an argument yesterday on TH-cam live Detroit sports radio channel about Mike Tomlin. I said one way to tell he's done a great job is based off of his record against the point spread over the years, meaning he's doing well above against expectations. The person told me that the point spread record doesn't matter doesn't tell us anything because expectations in the market is wrong. I told him exactly what you said if you think the betting market is worthless and wrong you should be a millionaire
I can tell you right now that the entire state of Michigan in the city of Detroit will be beyond heartbroken if the Lions lose before the super bowl. There are people who have waited generations for them to win he's insane if he thinks it's not important to people
The oof meme guy is Vincent del bosque. He was the manager for the Spanish national football team when they won the World Cup in 2010 and euros in 2012.
I like Clev a lot. I respect his content more than any other that is available. He is crazy smart and has an excellent work ethic, I don't think that is even debatable. From the touting side, just because you can does not mean you should. Hard to judge someone poorly off one 50/50 year when a lot of smart NFL handicappers have struggled this season. I just hope the the juice is worth the squeeze when it comes to selling picks because it would be a shame if people focus more on a guy that was 10 wins away from a winning year instead of the brilliance of his content! Enjoyed the show this week!
oof meter was not the Portuguese manager. Was the Spain manager: del Bosque. That's my contribution. Regular listener. Not much to contribute. That's my piece. Great show.
just checked my bets vs open and closing lines well the good news is I'm in no danger of being banned from betting i can only hope that they raise the deposits on bottles
Ive been a pro/semi pro bettor for almost a decade. I consume a lot of books and podcasts like this one. I like this podcast very much. Heres my quick review: Rob - The lead guy. Good at keeping things moving. Takes himself too seriously but seems to be aware of it. Definitely smart and has an ego but in a good way. Jeff - Best guy on here. You should let him talk more. Great representation of probably the majority of your listeners. Hes a half-sharp, half-square. His point about feeling shame when the market moves against you was great. Should have let him go more. Him vs Rob in any debate is good Guy with the slight lisp - Good representation of moddlers. He gets right to the point, doesnt interject himself too much. Hes a good third wheel. Producer - Fine. Seems like a good behind the scenes guy. Overall I think the show is good and for sure getting better as time goes on. Rob, dont be afraid to laugh at yourself sometimes. Although when you take shots its always a good listen. Let the other guys talk a little more. I only have one shameless plug I hope youll allow after my critique. I have a free blog about sports betting. Not even any ads. I mention you guys a few times. sportsbettingwithpoogs.blogspot.com/
Actually agree with pretty much everything you said. That said Rob is one of the funniest dudes I've ever listened to in sports betting. He's got a really good dry humor. You catch it a lot on his watch and lungs which can be hilarious and a nice break. That's a deals me that's a good job respecting the levels which people are at betting wise and doesn't seem to talk down to anyone
Actually think Geoff does a fantastic job because he does a really good job explaining his thought process. To show like this would probably typically not have somebody like him on it and it's funny that he's probably the one who's easiest to relate to for everyone.
10/10 review I agree. I like Jeff for the half sharp half square sentiment. I’m sharp on pinnacle and square on 365. 365 is a playground and a great app.
Having heard nearly every Pat Mayo Experience golf previews that Geoff has co-hosted, I know for sure he has bet Baby Swag. I think of them was for a major, too.
Nothing more annoying than professional bettors who complain about comps. I'm not going to say The one guy who brags about how much he tips everybody but then gets upset over nickel and dime stuff calls himself an advantage player. If you could only hear himself I think. Ugh
@FarleyBets "views the contests as the Golden standard" because he did well in it and wants to validate himself to others. He's undebatably insecure and intolerable. Plenty of idiots have made the WSOP Main Event final table, doesn't make them world class players.
My thing on Taylor and the other ladies that do it, I do understand this could be looks, when they do stuff or walking bets, you don't have to play what they say, you can just watch for opinoin, if you want, but I also could like you guys said the old school people don't like it. I give anyone credit that gives out plays, because if they miss, there going to get hate, if I watch or even play them, I made that decision, nothing to get mad about.
I find it nearly impossible to avoid mispriced lines in fear of getting limited and I’m limited on 10 of my 15 books in NJ. Do you have any resources on how to help avoid limits? I understand it’s always going to be a gray area.
Avoiding limits is definitely a nuanced topic and varies depending on the sportsbook. Some general tips include mixing in some recreational bets and avoiding patterns that scream sharp action (like consistently beating line moves).
Top-down betting is identifying valuable bets by first spotting market inefficiencies (like slow-moving lines) and then placing bets before the odds adjust.
Rob - I’m a recreational gambler and don’t have the ability to place NFL bets early in the week as my state doesn’t allow it. When in Vegas I’m usually betting Saturday or Sunday and as you say the market is at its most efficient. Would it be in my best interest to just bet teasers that late in the week. I understand the books have reduced the payouts on those, but I’m not looking at a career. Just some action on the games and a little profit.
I do think if somebody is only going to bed late in the week it's best you have as many else as possible and almost never settle for a widely available number if you can help it
Teasers can definitely be a viable option late in the week, especially if you're focused on just enjoying the games and maybe gaining a small edge. The key is to stick to Wong teasers (crossing 3 and 7, like teasing a -8.5 down to -2.5 or a +2.5 up to +8.5) where possible, even with reduced payouts.
@1:25:30 I had got word of Walker Kessler's gal winning Miss America and the "swag-meter" of our "prognostics got us on a manually created double double for him that was priced better than the ready made version on the night after her win... cash the "swag cap" play! lol
I cannot believe the comments made on the Prime Sports pod vs Novig & Taylor Mathis didn’t make it to this episode. Best book on book crime I’ve seen recently.
He didn’t say he was leaving twitter. He said he was deleting the app off his phone as not to check it all the time. I wasted a lot of time listening to this “discussion” and I’m sitting on a 6 hour flight right now.
Could use a poker analogy here my friend, anybody can beat anybody in poker in one hand. It means nothing. But over thousands of bets if you beat the clothing line by a big enough margin and you will be profitable. Anyone looking at this from a one bet perspective is clueless to how any of this works
The Rams are the team that got steamed in market after the re-opener for change of venue. If you're going to pick a one size sample to prove a point, at least pick one that works in your favor!
@@CirclesOffHQWrong. Circa left the line at pick em after the venue was changed to Az. Every internet sharp like you thought they had gold at Vikings pk. CLV, CLV. Another fish hooked by Vegas. Cmon man
To me there is no more overrated franchise than subway. You get thin slices in for some arteries and they've ran with the whole it's a place to eat if you're on a diet
Can’t listen to this show. I like rob. He’s great. Love the topics and premise. Geoff needs to calm down. And that other dude is just talks with a gen x tone.
Big fan of you all and this show but what’s with the anti-union rhetoric? Geoff’s point (and Rob’s I guess since he said “I’m with you”) is that workers have to be “special” to deserve a union? It’s not like unionized workers get any real power besides some recourse against being treated badly and hopefully a wage that’s remotely appropriate for cost of living in your area. Everyone’s entitled to their view but for sure a big L take for Circle Back imo
Woh woh woh… you just started saying “sports betting might be gone in 5 years” and just moved on at the very end of the show!?!? That needs talked about. I love this channel and show because it’s about the industry and what I’m trying to get into. I’m currently applying for jobs in it so I can just think full time about betting and continue improving my craft in off hours until it can be full time. But is that just not worth it now if right when I’ll be skilled enough it’ll be leaving!?!? 🤮🤢🫠 very sick right now 😂
The funniest part about GRP buying his mom those lottery tickets for Christmas is he more than likely bought them with her money

QOTD would you personally book Geoff?
I think if you asked Geoff if he would book himself he would says "yes"

I’m a noob to terms what is top down betting

Could have done with a 23 minute segment shitting on Chris instead of Farley. Enjoyed it either way but still

We were mostly speaking to the consolidation of sportsbooks, not that sports betting will be gone entirely.
