I miss the Avalanche :( it was an awesome truck I would love to see chevy bring it back for a 3rd gen. Hey if brought back the Colorado why not the Avalanche to? What made it even more unique and this is something the Colorado and Silverado can't even do is the fact you can take the whole back window and back wall down to create more space. I love the Avalanche maybe one day I'll get one
I love the exterior styling, the reasonable MPG, ride quality, and the functionality of the midgate, but the interior of many GM vehicles (including this one)just doesn’t cut it for me. Ive seen tons of these trucks with cracked dashes, missing buttons, etc. The simulated wood screams cheap to me, and is tinny when tapped. Maybe im picky with interiors, but i believe the extra couple thousand youd pay for a Cadillac EXT would be justified. Also WTF is up with the oil consumption. From what ive read, its the only real issue with this truck, but still its something to be wary of
-> If only GM can offer a 1LT or 2LT with a 6-seat fron bench seat option with 4WD it would've been perfect. The 6-seat option is only offered at the Base LS trim. -> Still, the Avalanche is still the best SUT for my needs. Shame GM dropped the 2500 model from the 1st-gen...
for anyone whos watching this and is currently looking at buying an 2007-2012 (don't buy 07-08) make sure you're aware of the AFM system issues with the oil. simply buy a hand held tuner like diablo and shut that option off to save your pistons and rings and from excessive oil burn. i just bought an 11 with 83k miles and that was the first thing I did to it.
Hey man I just bought a 2011 and got a range tuner for it. I’m just nervous about the possible battery draw from it. Did you see any issues with this? Is it really just plug and forget?
Yea thats sad. thought I read that it was being killed off on the motortrend iPhone app. Guess it's true? I think GM should give it one more cycle and upgrade that interior so it lives up to that sticker price.
Nice review and am considering the Avalanche for occasional towing and DD duties for my family. Rear seat legroom looks to be fairly generous, however the seat backs look bit short. Haven't seen anyone (adult) sit back there to see how supportive it is up in the upper back/shoulder/head area. I have teens that are adult sized and plan on long trips with it. Do you have any feedback on this? Might need to go with regular crew cab PU - Chevy, Ford or Dodge to satisfy the people moving part.
This is the perfect all-around pick-up. It's a great if you want to move things; so those parent who have kids in college and they have bring stuff to school; this is a great alternative to either a minivan or large SUV. And somebody, please tug a GM or one from Chevy to maintain this super versitile pick-up.
nice truck, and pretty cool idea the removable back section for longer stuff, though i think it would wear a little thin after a while if you had to do it often though, no substitute for a longer tray.
Overpriced inferior trucks with 10 speed franken engines and tiny gas tanks. (Notice how these sneaky corporate devils are shrinking the gas tanks. 10 gallons smaller than 2013 and prior).
@modmatt1 If you are not going to be towing much, I would recommend that you look at the Honda Ridgeline for a truck, or if you do need a truck and need to tow, a crew cab Toyota Tundra. They have better reliability and have relatively better fuel economy.
I'm looking to buy the Chevy Avalanche, but I'm stuck being choosing the 2011 or 2013 model. Could someone break down the differences? I'm mostly interested for its design and its built in navigation and sound system. Please give this a like and reply so I can see it??
the 2013 has a different better engine. the 2013 is all around a it nicer and chevy made it so because they were commemorating the avalanche for it's last year it also comes with a bigger pricetag.. The differences are not huge. you will love either year.
I just bought the same year . It's a very nice truck, only 69584 miles on it. It's 2023 now.
I feel they made a mistake discontinue the avalanche to me what a nice sylish and functional truck they should bring them back.
sales became very low in 2010-2012
the leaked water all the time
@@BDN355 what?
@@BDN355 I have 09 no leaks whatsoever 160 k miles on it still running strong
@@BDN355 thats why you replace the seals lol.
Love my 2007 avalanche still looks better than 70 percent of newer cars on the road today
Just watched two Avalanche reviews that were totally useless; should have started with your usual, honest, complete review. Thanks again.
Thanks, Bob! Really appreciate that.
Burying the competition, classic!

I'm starting to like the "faux wood" thing.....at this point in time it's become retro cool. Takes you back to a much better time in the US.
Agree with you 1000%
This truck doesn't get the respect of the other full-size trucks, therefore there are some amazing deals on used ones
Bryce cohh

Just mine doesn't have DVD and sunroof. And it's silver and crom with a lift kit

my dad has one of these and i love it

i love this truck! i wish they would price it lower. it might stay longer if they lowered the price.
@evans4you One would have to assume the same fate for the EXT.
@MikMayhem46 Have had it scheduled twice and each time it has been cancelled...still trying though!
@h4h4h4 Haven't done a Tundra in quite a while...trying to book some Toyota product for September so stay tuned.
You need to throw the fucking Avalanche in the trash.

have you heard any word on the 2013 pick up trucks and full sized suvs
what do you think about the new gm full size pick up trucks
The MPG is impressive for a V-8.
@stevehammes what about the cadillac version of the same?
did you mean the avalanche is being discontinued or being replaced by a new model in 2013?
With a full hardtop canopy , this could be the most practical vehicle ever

Steve you need to review the GTI ;)
Could you do the Nissan Frontier?

It's sad to see the Avalanche go for 2013. :( Maybe it will make its return in a few years just like the Audi Allroad!

@evans4you Disco is the word as of now.
considering they stop making the Ford Explorer Sport Trac I doubt we will see this from GM
If that rear window was electric, it would be perfect! Still, it's a pretty cool truck.
Then you couldn't remove it for large cargo
My stepdad gave me his 2007 avalanche and he bought a 2012 silverado I was going to get a ford raptor but I totaled me 2003 sierra
Wish it didn’t have the AFM.😢

I ment to put bc I totaled my sierra
They should have kept the Avalanche!!!
Bet you wish they still had it now.
You forgot the subaru baja

It has the same engine dummy
Actually you could compare this to a Cadillac Ext
I still want a 2500Hd with the 8.1 sob of an engine
I have a 2012 , No you can not have it !!
I want one hopefully tomorrow 2012🙉🙈🙊🙏🏼☝🏾🥁🎼
V8...14MPG no Thnak You. I'll wait till the diesel redesign.
