The score is quite stirring and it was a busy year as he was also scoring Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines which was a classic comedy. The year before he composed 633 Squadron and a few years later he scored Where Eagles Dare, Submarine X1, Monte Carlo Or Bust, The Miss Marple films and The Battle Of Britain. I have a cd of some of his music signed by him when I went to see him conduct his film scores with the Halle Orchestra. That was quite something as many of the films mentioned including Operation Crossbow I have the original soundtrack. Very clever chap.
Thank you, Soundtrack Fred, for creating this suite and then sharing it. One of my favorite wartime action movies and one of Goodwin's most memorable scores. Every bit as epic and heroic as the story told in the film. Much appreciated, sir!
Ron Goodwin was up there with the very best film soundtrack composers. Every bit as good as John Williams, Ennio Morricone, Henry Mancini and John Barry!

classic Goodwin. Stirring, bold and powerful.
The music at 11:36 accompanies Churchill Speech about rebuilding, is highly emotive.
Rest In Peace Ron, and thank you.
