- A last shoot for Miners
The last night we spent at Felicitas Mine I decided to homage its working class with a tribute. Each die we did in the mine has been possible only because the hands of workers had dig the slate for centuries. We have visited incredible places who were stolen by the rock with TNT, pickaxe, sweat and blasphemies. None dive could have been done without the job that the miners did. Everybody knows that the working-class loves drinking strong alcoholics in the end of a hard day passed worksite.
I had forbidden my scuba diving team to drink during these days, by the way we were used to have a tiny taste of a traditional Italian’s bitter digestive before going to bed, every night. While I was writing my daily report from the darkness, I proposed to the team: “Why don’t we offer a last shoot from our bottle to the miners?”.
The following day, before leaving the mine, we dedicate our last dive inside the black slate tunnels of Felicitas to the miners. I put a message in the bottle and we left it inside the Mine, we offered a last shoot to the workers amongst the black slate’s powder.
