FYI to the 'lamp' comments: I looked it up and the lamp in the movie set is actually that oversized in comparison to the rest and has a weird shape, so this one is actually to scale at least in the bottom part, near the desk. (-X I frankly had forgotten that originally. Maybe what frustrates Chantal is the shape, maybe a little too cylindrical? (but it is so tiny!!) I'm not sure I can come up with a better solution...

No matter what you make, I always think it's amazing how you figure out how to make it. Looks wonderful even tho your not happy with it. The artist is the worst critic of themselves. Your results are always spectacular no matter! Smile*
I would starch the pink lace into the shape. Although it isn't transparent in the film, I think that would make it less visually heavy in the diorama, and still have it as a key feature.

This miniature diorama is driving you crazy because ts way out of your color comfort zone. Im glad you did push thru and it is wonderfully detailed. Your dislike of Umbridges character didn't make it any easier either I can imagine.
I am glad you got your wind under your wings again, I am really enjoying this series. Tiny is wonderful, takes up less space, and is magically charming.

Looks amazing! One of your best yet I think. It makes my skin crawl a little just as Umbridge does. For the lamp, it is ridiculously huge in the film, but quickly tapers and we never see the top of it. I think you could make a cone that tapers, paint it pink and have it hanging from a wire or chain. That way you get the effect without the tube at the top which is the bit that is a little off. Looks great though!
i am going to go out on a limb here and say i actually liked the end result. I am not a fan of pink, but when you have to use it, you just have to use it, .. it sure does make a statement .. i think adding the fireplace gave it some more detail .. my fav part was the window and the curtains.. ..i think theres 54 plates.. total..

I am a big fan of this series and this one is one of my favorites! I'm not a big fan of pink, especially in that overwhelming quantity, but I love how much detail you were able to squeeze into this tiny space. Umbridge's office always had that claustrophobic, over decorated feel to me and you accomplished that. I agree with you that something is off about the lamp but I don't know of any way to make it better than what you already did. I hope you come to love this room as much as I do because you put a lot of work into it and the end result is true to the movie and books and is just awesome! 💗😻😽🧙🏻♀️😸😺💖

You're so right that every artist has those "meh" projects. Pushing through is the best way to tackle it. Maybe the lack of interest is because of the randomness of the source material? Or the fact Umbridge lives in so much pink that if Barbie ever needs an Arch Nemesis it could be Umbridge. Batman has Joker, Barbie could have Umbridge. I do love how you made this round like the tower, though, and I like it! For a foul pink archvillian with a hoard of kitten minions.
The lamp is a bit much, but the rest is fantastic. Love it! It wouldn’t be a complete set without this office from hell. I think it’s just the thickness of the fabric on the lamp. Tough to find super fine fabric for something this size, though.

There are 54 plates in the entire diorama. 9 strips of 6 plates each = 54 plates total. (Waiting patiently for my gold star, lol) I think this little matchbox diorama turned out great! I agree, there are times that we just aren't "feeling" a project, but we still push ourselves to finish it and end up not really enjoying the process. I'm glad that you pushed through and finished it!

It is too much pink for me as well, but I still loved it!!! It was so great to actually see you work on that because the pictures from Patreon/Discord did not really give us the feel of such a tiny scale!!! (The plant pots and blob plates especially!). But also the lamp on the desk, the tiny chairs, the doily thing and the picture frame on the desk!!! You did so well to push through and, like you said, if you feel like changing something later, you can always do it! I draw a blank for the lamp right now, but I'll be thinking it over. Umbridges office, with its 54 wee plates and amazing details, is wonderful Chantal! Okay, I think I’d have been tired working with ‘pepto-bismol’ pink but you did a cracking job. I don’t know how big you wanted the lamp shade but would a toothpaste tube cap with its fluted shape not work? Or something similar but a tad larger? Just a suggestion.

I think you’ve done a great job on the lamp and all! Maybe something is missing on center of left side? It’s like the whole room is full around the edges and nothing in the middle. Perhaps the lamp might have gone there and maybe a scale smaller, but I’m not sure. Thanks for guiding me to the supply link! I had a hard time finding the scissor like tool, that you use a lot. It is hiding in the paint section! Lol There is a lot of neat stuff there!

Chantal, this is fantastic especially when they are tiny. I have thought about making Doctor Who (4th doctor). The blue Tardis would be a cute one to create for my 81 yr Dad. However, inside the Tardis is impossible.
This sounds like an extremely good idea!!! Passing thought: could it be possible to create an interior like a pop up card? So that the console unfolds somehow? I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but maybe worth thinking over? (: Good luck with your craft!

I appreciate your honesty about not feeling excited about this room. Although I didn’t like the character, I had to respect how well developed the character is and recognizable within the story. By appearances, she looks so matronly and ladylike but as we know, wow, was she awful. All other rooms in Hogwarts were castle-y and fell within certain color expectations with this one garish exception. Congrats on pushing through your discomfort and seeing the project through. You did beautifully, as always. ❤️

Oh ! I see what you mean for that lamp - it does mess things up because it seems out if scale. Maybe...cut the frills off, and use seed bead strings? Just me, but I think a better fit in size scope, half that size, or a seed bead candelabra? I still loved it, fireplace is great.

Oh ! I see what you mean for that lamp - it does mess things up because it seems out if scale. Maybe...cut the frills off, and use seed bead strings? Just me, but I think a better fit in size scope, half that size, or a seed bead candelabra? I still loved it, fireplace is great.
