Hello Ben! I couldn't agree more. As a teacher, I always prepare my classes in advance. It may sound like a repetition, but the more I prepare each class the more I learn.

I couldn't agree more. I'd go even further and add that this method removes any doubts about one's knowledge and skills, and boosts one's self-confidence. That's what happened to me when at work I was training people in my speciality while I used to think I didn't deserve this job and be like an impostor 😉
And for your information, "protégé" comes from the french verb "protéger" that means "to protect sth/so" 🙂

I started teaching this way. Nevertheless, I did not have an idea that it had a named. I used to prepare a lesson and teach it to a Teddy Bear, hahahaha. Then, I taught the grammar class to my friends and bit by bit I became a teacher for them. Thanks for all your lessons!!!!

I am a Science and Geography teacher in Brazil. And I already taught English to a friend from scratch. I absolutely agree with this approach. Maybe my future doctor degree will be regarding peer to peer teaching, student to student, how they teach each other (when someone skips class) and how they prepare to tests using active teaching. I already knew about this kind of learning but never heard about this protégé term. Thanks, I will keep using it in my life. Cheers.

Hello Ben, I couldn't agree more. When I was a young teacher I remember the same feeling. I understood grammar more when I explained the problems to the young pupils.

Ever since I was a little girl I studied using my dolls as students (of course, later in life I forget about dolls), but I walk around my room and have a whiteboard to explain to my imaginary class, and it is the only way I can study... Seated for hours reading in silence do not work for me.
But I guess everybody should try different methods until they find the one that suits 😊✨
Thank you for all your help ❤

    Hi Ben,
that's an amazing video, I was hooked up from the beginning till the end.
In some way I did this for years, when I was in school I helped other kids in English and Biology, I really like teaching and later I helped people who studied to become a nurse .
I always did my preparations in front of the mirror (to be honest).
I try to help my partner to learn the English language and I've to start at the beginning, he learned Russian at school.
So this video came right in time, many thanks.😊

      I was > (hooked up ❌) ...
I helped other kids > English and Biology, I really > teaching ... I helped people who > to become ...
      I always did my > (uncountable) ...
      > start > the beginning ...
      I have ☑️, I've ❌ if have is a verb
      I've ☑️ = I have ☑️ if have is an auxiliary
      This video comes/came >

@@cyruschang1904 Hi thank you for the correction, I did not know that preparation is uncountable

    • @cyruschang1904
      @cyruschang1904 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@SabineHamer-mr7pm It depends on the meaning of "preparation". When you say "I always did my preparation ... " , you mean you were getting yourself ready, "preparation" means the act of preparing yourself, it is uncountable.
If you say "I am making preparations for the dinner", preparations = the things your are preparing, then countable.

By the time I was seventeen, I had studied English for 9 years and, as we started learning business English, it proved to be a little bit too hard for some of my classmates so I gave them free classes. Besides, I always helped my younger sister and her friends. We don't know something if we can't teach it.🎉

protegé... more or less like the Spanish aprendiz, yes?
like having a mentor.... and both learn, yes!
I agree with you, Seneca, Feynman, Einstein 🙂
Learning by teaching,. I agree that you learn more deeply and fill your gaps you had on what you're teaching... and if you're able to explain it in a simple way 👍🏻
I asked AI about the me of the meaning of protegé: "A "protege" is someone who is under the protection, guidance, or mentorship of another person, often in a learning or apprenticeship capacity"
We can be protegés of chatGPT 🤖😅 and we also learn when we ask questions to AI and we do it in the simplest and most effective way

Hi Eva! Great to hear from you 🙂
Yes, protégé is similar to aprendiz (apprentice), but it also involves a kind of protection and guidance, not just learning.
