    This is without a doubt my most complex Create build so far, so hopefully you all enjoy it and can put it to good use! I spent hours building this, ripping it apart, and building it again until I finally got it to work after 6+ hours of testing in a creative world :)

      @@lukenator115 heres the schematic: drive.google.com/file/d/164coX5ZzNBaY93AtFom5YRnipZeghpfz/view?usp=sharing
      it is direction sensitive, so if you rotate it you may need to turn the gantry blocks 180 or replace the gears on the head with a belt to make it work. it also requires chunkloading (i think)
      to start it:
      - set movement mode lever to pulse
      - activate item return disable
      - apply rotational power
      - set movement direction to extend
      - select axis 1
      - set movement mode to continuous
      - deactivate item return disable
      - wait for both heads to reach end of gantry
      - select vertical axis
      - activate main power
      with main power off, once the current cycle is done, movement mode pulse acts as movement stop, and you can move the head freely to a new position using movement mode, direction, and axis controls as long as item return disable is activated.
      if the head gets stuck on its way up due to water/lava cobble or obsidian generation, just clear the obstruction and then toggle movement direction to extend and then back to retract.
      lastly, to prime the engine that it comes with in the schematic, simply add 64 charcoal into the furnace, one to the hopper under the furnace, one log in the hopper above the furnace, and one log in the furnace. after that it should run fine with a fuel consumption of one log per 80 seconds regulated from the chest above the hopper.
      edit: you may need to up redstone link range depending on how high up in the world you place the quarry, or adjust the quarry size. (if you adjust the size it will still work fine without any redstone tweaks)

  • @ChiefArug
    @ChiefArug 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    AWESOME! Very compact and smart.
    The only problem is it is not quite infinitely expandable because of the range limitation on redstone links being 160 blocks, but to actually reach that would require 48 chests.
    You could double that by building the redstone 150ish blocks along where the gantry shaft will go.

    Can the miner only expand from here, or can you somehow move parts, for example by coaxing them into minecarts?

    • @RagePlaysGames
      @RagePlaysGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I suspect you could put a fair bit of time in and connect all the parts at the start of the quarry using superglue / chassis so you could tack it onto a minecart and eventually move it, it would just take a LOT of connecting stuff and youd have to manually gather all the gantry shafts after the miner is done with that section and you decide to move it.

But then it would go into the rock its placed as it started when it resets to the beginning... Also adding a x-axis to the y-axis it currently uses so once its finished going through the y it resets to the beginning and moves X blocks (however long the mining rig itself is) along it to start over... No idea how to impliment that though as i've never understood redstone lol

    This mod is amazing. I love how instead of making a 1-block quarry that mines out an area you either set the coordinates for or set a boundary of (looking at you, Buildcraft, RFTools, etc.), you actually have to set up the movement, timing, and breaking of the blocks. It takes actual effort, ingenuity, and creativity to build things in this mod, all while looking amazing and not being as complex or requiring in-depth understanding of things like advanced redstone mechanics, tick rates, tnt duping, etc. that would be required for a vanilla quarry.

    Note for the adjustable pulse repeater on the section that moves you might need to use an extra set of redstone links to move the latch and repeater. When the arm moves the repeater forgets it's settings

    • @MrMwalswor
      @MrMwalswor 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to do this; I found that the rope pulley would bounce up and down a single block a few times before moving forward one spot and trying again. Fairly easy fix though, basically move the 3-block arm from the gantry carriage onto your redstone platform and all you need on the carriage is a single link with the final output

    • @alexbotz8335
      @alexbotz8335 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea it's a pretty easy fix

  • @GraceMidyette
    @GraceMidyette 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also a fun fact, I built it at 27 long and there are a few oddities that happen: like there 4 blocks in the far corners 1 inside the radius it doesnt want to mine up I couldn't really figure out why; also the blocks directly under the arm at the edge don't want to get mined which causes it to just circle around and get stuck, but moving the contact on the rotating arm part 1 space behind the stationary contact fixed it so it travels a bit farther before hitting the contact to drop it down.

    that redstone work would even baffle Mumbo Jumbo

    • @chrisbreeden6242
      @chrisbreeden6242 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, that certainly makes sense. It's modded Minecraft, and we all know how Mumbo feels about modded Minecraft... even if said mods simply improve on vanilla redstone, which is what Create is at its core. Either it's baffling yet awesome (to the point where he can't do anything but puzzling over how he could use mods in his contraptions... which he's stated is the case with Create and I like that he said that), or he just hates it for being too NOT Minecraft.
      Edit: Mumbo would hate this design. There's no wool to identify any of the lines because Rage built his redstone on stone.

    I followed this build but the deployer wasn't placing track. I needed to super glue 3 gearboxes connecting the rotational power of the gantry carriage to the deployer and it worked like a charm.
    As a possible explanation of this build, I would love to see a Create way off pulling mined items out automatically. Tried using a portable storage interface when the miner returns to start but it wasn't an entity anymore. Also after emptying the quarry tries to mine every row first. Don't suppose there is a way to tell it to skip rows?

      It goes right through it! The blocks lowered by the pulley do no act as actual blocks until they reach the bottom and stop for a second and then, because none are breakable by fluids (the redstone links don’t break from fluid even tho they are redstone) it just sits until it comes back up in 3 seconds. How do I increase the distance that the driller can move over before going back down? Also this is so amazing.

    • @RagePlaysGames
      @RagePlaysGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Youd have to adjust the redstone timer and increase its time that is on the initial platform that turns off the redstone torch, which allows the gantry carriage to move forward.

    Could you describe the adjustments that would be needed if you increased the RPM of the generator? I’d like to use a 128rpm flywheel but I can’t figure out which components to adjust to make the gantry carriage move over.

    • @RagePlaysGames
      @RagePlaysGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Youd have to adjust the redstone timer setup that turns off the torch to allow the gantry carriage to move since it will need way less time to move over 1 block if you have way more RPM and then you could also decrease the time on the timer telling the quarry part when to go down and come back up since it wont need to wait as long for the horizontal movement.

    How about making a video in which you show how you build AND USE a mining machine for nether
    Please make your videos with a little more gameplay in them, not much , but a little

    • @AdamProGamingTR
      @AdamProGamingTR 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the Auto Miner that Rage made in Episode 11 in the nether but switch the cobble with netherrack and for the quarry you can use itbin the nrther but building it in there in the nether will be pain but why would you need a quarry in the nether anyways? The miner would be much better in the nether for finding Ancient Debris

    • @RagePlaysGames
      @RagePlaysGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adam is right that the episode 11 auto miner will function perfectly in the nether if you switch cobble to netherrack and fuel it with enough coal since it wont mine more in there.
      As for the gameplay, I absolutely will :) tried putting a bit more talking / gameplay in the upcoming video to see how that goes over and potentially increase it a bit more from there.

    This could be made to go through solid surfaces such as a mountain or underground just by adding a wall of drills to the front.

    • @RagePlaysGames
      @RagePlaysGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is true! Youd most likely want to make it a 2 wide drill section on the bottom then though and adjust the redstone accordingly because when the rope pulley reaches the bottom it would place the side drills, which would currently be inside other blocks (potentially ore like diamond) and then destroy them.

    Does anyone have an idea how to fix the quarry not coming back up in 1.18.1 with create 0.4? It seems the observer is only recognizing the pully on the top and doesn’t emit a signal when at the bottom…

    • @Sire3001

      Figured it out: the redefine links have I limited range, so to extend the signal a pair of links is placed half way to bedrock.

      It seems like the gantry shafts aren't respecting the disabled torch in the signal coming from the redstone connectors. I suspect it's related to some kind of bug or invalid state that happens when the gantry is moved at the wrong time even just once in the process. ie probably requires a clean start or something. still working to get it figured out tho.
