The improvement in Renault quality for the past year is impressive. Completely the opposite of what VW is doing.
So much that I considering propose it to my parents instead of an ID.4
Also a plus that they switched to Android auto.
VAG is in a weird spot since they tried to switch infotainments and failed that so current models are in a bit of a limbo. The upgraded versions are coming out now and they are going back to physical buttons. For example the new Skoda Superb and Kodiaq look crazy good. The Passat update also looks good on the interior (previous gen had better exterior imo). I've been burned by Renault too many times to "risk" their new offering, but I do admit that this new Scenic looks extremely good.

@@pindot787 From what I can see the Model Y LR that is available in Europe (AWD) costs €50k while the long-range Scenic is around €48k while having significantly longer range.

@@The_Observer72 he easily fits in the back of the EV6. Which has a long booth with a flat floor and is quite wide as well (with helps with effective space). Would we rather have a minivan? Sure! But there were not available I'm that price range and tax bracket. Plus VW and Skoda dealers are dicks here that tried to scam us with the Enyaq. ( A long history, too long to talk about here).
We were allowed to test how comfortable the dog could lay down, sit up and stand in this car at the dealer, and it's a very wide car too. He was quite comfortable. We also keep the seats upright and not "all the way down"which means more space for him :) .
Now an actual Grand Scenic like minivan? Like the ones of old but Electric? Why Renault would have us and a customer day one!

@@The_Observer72 ID Buzz would be great, if it weren't for the aforementioned asshole VW dealers in the region here. The EV9 is a bit too high to jump in but a very big car. IT provides some problems in cities here due to its size but otherwise great car. I have high hopes for the EV7 and KIA/Hyundai's new mInivan platform "PBV" :). Which are electric minivans and small work vehicles :) .
But the EV7 sounds like a EV6 but with less sloping roof line :) .
Same chameleon charger as the old Zoe? I believe e-Megane continued with that..
Great with TN, but as you know, very impractical in Norway with IT..

As this is an isolated Norway (and Albania) problem, Renault hasn't been to good with information, either with limitations on Zoe or any changes with to the Megane..
Ill stick to second gen Scenic.

Charge port is on the right side but in the front and therefore well setup for the tesla superchargers.

For sure. Very smart as the roof.
Can it hold a tablet?
Doors are light because they are aluminium. This affects the sound a bit but big weight saving. Done 18k miles in 10 month and still glad I chose Mégane over Born or ID3.
6 USB ports + 2 12V sockets + induction charger 😮 And the glass roof opacity is niiice 😮
The armrest has the possibility to put phones for the back passagers or one tablet.
Just stress…

I do not want to be rude but the charge port is on the right and side and its correct because in france wee have off street chargers that means when you park your car along the street the charge port is near the side walk and if charge port is in front its also ok to use but if like you always mention left side is the right side then you canot charge and no you canot turn your car facing incoming trafic you'll get a tiket and car is impounded so its not easy to say left or right for me my car is in front and i am happy about it as i see often people unable to charge.

Well thats only one rare case where the charger might be on the right side, in germany many chargers are behind the parking spot... Also if I charge in my garage I get out of the door and can plug it straight into the left side. On the right side would be horrible cause I need to park close to the right side to get out of the car on the left.... So björn is right left side is the right side :D
I drove a Zoé for 3 years and I very much appreciated the nose charger. For day-to-day use, that would be my personal recommendation. Next would be curb-side, which is still good.
@@kenion2166 So you have a small garage, not a proper one. In a garage you should be capable to open the doors on both sides for people to get out.
I never understood Bjorn with his left side for charging. It's just stupid to put it there for LHD cars.
The right side is of course the right side and the left side is the wrong side.
@@razvanlex well space in our country is expensive. So you dont build like insane big garages. Many ppl. have only tiny garages. Anyway since tesla decides 8 years ago to put the chargers on the left side its the right since the cable will be to short for the wrong side on V1-3.. Also definitly better in any cases. If its raining heavly you step out one foot plug in get back and dont have to make a siesta around the car :D

It most likely is. It's much lighter than the Ariya at 1800 kg. WLTP figure for the big batter is 620 km.

This looks good. But when do we gonna see an EV, with three seperate back seats and isofix? Unless I am a millionare an can buy a Tesla X, there is not really any EV alternatives for big family cars, like VW Touran, Citroen C4 Grand Picasso, Ford S-Max and so on 😢
6:40 Porsche charges over 5000€ for this feature on the Taycan and it's less advanced on that. Renault charges 1500€.

Its just so they pop in and out for aerodynamics. I prefer the old fashioned ones personally.
I dont like how they made a scenic into an suv. I dont blame them as thats what people buy, but at the same time im sure there would be some that prefer a mpv style with better space. I personally dont need either but i have a friend who always buys old mpvs for the space, and they are allways bigger on the inside than this. I know that's also due to battery and modern saftey tech, but it could be better.

The doorhandle can be popped out by just pushing on it, no need for fiddling around with the small flap (emergency key access) 😊

Right front can use the same charger as as left rear, just drive front first. So it's a bit better than right rear

"It's no German car"....the perception of quality based on how the door sound closes is specious. In my 50 years of car ownership the German build ones were the most costly and troublesome.
Looks like a perfectly sized, practical city car. Price and depreciation will be important factors. Door handles meh. Console and dashboard are nice. "The French like to go deep"... man, you are priceless. :D

EV makers need to figure how to do good flush door handles. Tesla door handles suck, too. Can no one design flush door handles that are well designed? My suggestion would be a flush circle, about two and three-quarter inches in diameter that you push in. It would move in not in a see-saw motion, by would move straight in in a flat motion-like a big button you cannot miss-and when you push it in to certain point the door would pop out about two inches, where you can open the door. Elegant and easy to use, and not stupid. This way, the handles never need to come out to greet the person (and would less prone to jamming) and everywhere, everyone, knows, how to use a button. Job done. Get it sorted. These Scenic handles were designed by... I don't even want to use the word.

Automakers need to stop producing non-aerodynamic roadtrip EVs. Range at high speed and in the cold is too low.

It is a Megane, but the Scenic version that is higher of the ground & inside its the same.
This scenic is at the same level than Tesla for range, price , technology

A vehicle trunk should be compared if it can carry a complete set of 4 tires (aka the winter/summer change set) without folding the rear seats. No matter how deep it goes, it needs depth as well
If it can't it fails as a vehicle. If a compact hatchback can, so anything else larger in size.

I'm very tempted to lease this as my car is due for changing in October. The only disappointment is the fact there is no false floor to make the boot level. Lifting a heavy electric wheelchair in and out would be hard work with that lip.
I've owned many Renault's including an original Scenic. Renault have knocked it out of the park inside and out with this. Cheaper and nicer looking than the new electric Peugeot 3008/4008's

BYD Atto3 it's better
The 87kwh long range version is cheaper than the long range model 3, VW id.4 pro, Nissan Ariya, 73kwh Peugeot 3008, 64kwh Toyota BZ4X. And beats them all in range, except the model 3.

I bet that infotainment system gets gimped in the RHD version. Renault cheaped out on the Megane RHD infotainment for unfathomable reasons. They lost a sale from me when I learned that.

What are you talking about? The Renault Scenic with the big battery option starts as low as €49k and gives you 620km WLTP range. A full spec Scenic is €55k in Germany. For comparison:
The standard Model Y is so bad in comparison, for 45k you only get 455km WLTP range and have an ugly and cheap interior. It is like the worst possible deal on the market right now and people still buy it.
The outdated Model Y LR costs €53k and has only 530km WLTP range and you still have the same cheap interior here.
Go figure what is better.
