  • In this video Morgan Moosely and I take you along for a very sporty sail in the Bras d'Or Lakes. These lakes are a lovely place to sail in the heart of Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Island. We reef down traumeri our 1977 Gulfstar 40 sailboat in the flat sea and strong wind. Then towards the end of the video we switch gears and go ashore to visit the Alexander Graham Bell Museum in Baddeck.

Thank you so much for this! I've been eyeing up Bras D'Or as a shakedown location for the eventual move-aboard.

Remember the WISHY CRUISE BYE', he came out of retirement, so Dwayne could take aunt Jackie on the wishy cruise.

We spent about two nights in St. Peter's also but didn't do the canal.

The canal was pretty chill. Looking back on our time in Bras d'Or Lakes I can say maybe the best part was just the change of scenery and pace that served as a bit of an interlude to the trip.

I can hear the nesting terns disturbed by you and the cat. The wading birds are ALL in steep decline because people don’t hear, understand, and respect the alarm calls of these sensitive nesting birds. Flushing is for toilets. Know what to look for and listen for. Mosquitos are THE indicator of a healthy ecology. Our lack of tolerance for inconvenience is the ruination of the planet. Further, look into the number of diseases and parasites that can be passed from the feces of pets moved all over the world to wildlife and decimating the populations of wildlife. It is sad how ignorant people are. Life without our beloved pets IS hard, but they have no business being out there in some of the few pristine places left on the planet. Please…. It is not all about us and our enjoyment if what we enjoy cannot survive our visit.
