The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Tremendous. Saw him a couple of times in the UK when he played Amway weekenders in 90's. Never forget him especially Inner Man xx

He never got the credit he deserved for his talent. I met him as a kid. He was absolutely mind blowing live.

Dear Sullivan uploaders, I have just become aware that April Stevens passed away recently. She had many hits with her brother Nino Tempo in the '60's, but many aren't aware that her first big hit was as a solo singer back in 1951 with a unique and lovely song called "I'm in Love Again". She sang this song on the Ed Sullivan show in 1951 (her only appearance) and the footage is extremely rare. I've never seen it, nor have I ever seen any footage of April from this time in her early career. I'm sure her fans, such as myself, would love to see this, and since she recently passed away a weeks ago, I thought I would let you know in case you might have interest in posting it.

Phil Driscoll is an outstanding trumpet player, and a pretty good singer, think Joe Cocker. He had a very popular night club on Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville Fl. He fronted the house band, they would pack that place out. My dad knew him, from writing tickets and calling wreckers to tow cars at the club that were parked on the shoulder of the road, lol. They got to be decent friends. Well, I wanted dad to buy me a real bass. All I had at the time was a 40 dollar Conrad, made in Korea, that mom bought me at a flea market. So Phil, had a production/publishing deal with some big label. I can't remember who. They built him a home studio, and I mean it was big and nice. Dad called up Phil and wanted to know what he should do. Dad didn't know if I could play bass or not. Phil told dad to bring me by his house and we would jam and he'd give dad an opinion. We did that. and he told dad I was a pretty good bass player. Phil ordered my first good bass I ever had from a friend of his in Chicago, that was the Rickenbacker 4001 I wish I'd never got rid of. Phil was a good dude.

Phil put on an amazing show in that club! He would some kind of alcohol on the end of his horn and set it on fire then play like it was nobody’s business. Great musician and showman!
