Be thankful that Textron had the deep pockets and the confidence to buy Arctic Cat. The Chinese had been attempting to buy the company for several years before Textron got involved.
Great great video, I had no idea Textron was in aviation and military so heavily.. I think this will help people understand Textron. Cant wait to see what’s coming in future!!!
He said..."We LOVE the Arctic Cat name and brand" and "We LOVE the loyalty of the Arctic Cat customers". So...Because of this we changed the name and told everyone to get bent.
I think this entire process is exciting and I am really looking forward to seeing how Textron handles it. I know I have already started paying closer attention to what they are doing. Honestly, I understand why they are getting rid of the Articcat name. It's not that I have anything against Articcat, I just see how it could be better for their branding growth.
I love my new Stampede X. I've been an Arctic Cat guy my whole life but Textron has really done a great job on their side-by-sides. Took me a little bit to get used to the name but it's a household name for us now.
Mike Blom I also have the Stampede X and love it. Two things I like about it,1.) it has the extended cab behind the seat and 2) it is narrow enough to put on my narrow trailer. Another thing, the roll bar has the thickest steel of any SxS.
The first I heard of any of this was yesterday when I saw a truckload of black wrapped crates with the Textron logo on them at a gas station in the Yukon. I thought to my self: Cessna makes sidebysides now?? To me the Textron name represents aviation which is an industry where durabilty and quality control are a life and death issue, henceforth design and construction protocols from that industry should hopefully make their way into their offroad products. I agree with the choice to only leave" Arctic Cat" on the sleds and using "Textron" with original model names for the dirt. If I was new to the ATV market I would be more inclined to buy a "textron" buggy than an "arctic cat" buggy. I would rather have the name of my buggy associated with military and executive jet aircraft than snowmobiles. It's a no brainer. In ten years or less the sentimentality of the arctic cat name on a buggy will be totally forgotten about.
judgegixxer Textron just issued the Arctic Cat name back on the off road vehicles. If you go to the Arctic Cat website and read their “About” statement they talk a little bit about how people wanted the name back. Maybe they weren’t selling enough off road vehicles because they took the Cat name off? I’m from Minnesota and I love the Arctic Cat name on my 2003 wheeler, even with a Suzuki motor. I’ll be honest I was and still am skeptical of the new Textron atv’s because they don’t have the Arctic Cat name on it (which is stupid, like adding lettering on a machine will make it run better). But I think it’s just familiarity. I understand they’re trying to expand the market to all other states but that also probably hurt them in the Northern Market because people here like the Cat name. Maybe they eventually will take the name off again but I know right now they issued it back on. My wife and I are going to buy a 2019 Alterra next week so hopefully these new Textron atvs will hold up as well as my 2003 is, guess only time will tell!
I have not heard anything thus far that truely puts me at ease with this aquisition. Especiqlly since mu new alterra XT 500 that i purchased last june is a discontinued line.......my alterra is a full size with all the extras and power steering. Now if you wish to get into power steering you have to go to the 700 H1 OR H2 dont get me wrong my ATV is a replacement for the lemmon that artic cat pushed out of the factory and didnt want to help. But our local dealer stepped up where artic cat failed and made it right. End of the day my atv has done everything ive put it through and did it with no lack of bottom end torque albeit hauling logs on the property to towing the trailer loaded with stands through some unforgiving Adirondack terrain then right out to trails opening it up. But if anything major does happen iam concerend with cost since my alterra only came with a two year warranty AND my model being discontinued, it would be great to see otuer lines become more price competative and offer say a 650twin perhaps since artic cat (now being textron) seems to not be willing to change out of improve the higher line of the 700 offerings still being a single cylinder big bore. Only model they seem to have done this is with the VLX model being a stripped down basic full size ATV with no dash readout,no dif lock flwt black amd tubular feont and rear racks but does have the H1 700 power plant @ msrp of $4999 which is the price it is at all dealers we have locally. Never have i seen the msrp be the floor sticker price.
UpstateArms1 You're going to have to be patient. You can't just buy a company and change everything immediately. They have to totally restructure the company from management, manufacturing, r&d, marketing etc etc. The good news is Textron has the pockets to finally get AC back up to where they belong.
Looking at the specs on the 2018 wildcat X LTD, I'm pretty excited for the changes. If they deliver on the turbo it'll net over 200hp with Stage 5 Elka shocks....
Textron bought Polaris in 1968 and sold them off in 1981. In many circles, the industry blamed Textron for causing the near demise of Polaris. This may be partially true, but the biggest culprit is likely the snowmobile market tanking. Hopefully Textron will improve the performance and reliability of existing Arctic Cat products and develop new machines to be "best in class". Certainly they have the resources to make big statements in the market, the question is whether their willing to make the investments to make it happen. Polaris has manufacturing facilities in Mexico to reduce labor costs, and this allows them to increase the content of their machines at a given price point while maintaining profit margins. Any company that's serious about dethroning Polaris in any market segment will unfortunately have to follow that same business model (some manufacturing in cheap labor country).
Its dumb to take a recognized name away. Everyone and their mother know Arctic Cat, I had to research Textron. Sounds like a Chinese knockoff brand to me. It saddens me to see old names that have been around for years go away.
Name is not important. If they can make powerful and reliable products. People will buy. I’m excited to try the Havoc X, I enjoy the stampede but the upgraded suspension and power will be much welcomed.
Hope Textron comes in and raises the quality of their ATV/UTV line. Ive owned my Arctic Cat MudPro since last June (1.5 years) and have put 2500km on it. I am not overly tough on the bike and do basic maintenance as needed. In the time I have owned it I have had to replace the rear suspension bushings 3 times, wheel bearing, tie rod ends, motor mount bushings and recently suspect I need to put a new set of piston rings in it as its starting to burn oil. I wont buy another...unless they can really prove to me otherwise...which I assume they wont by the time I am in the market for a new one.
I have a neighbor who wants to sell his Textron he bought it and then got sick. Only problem is it has a Offroad low gear transmission that allows you to drive maybe 10 to 15 mile an hour. My question is is there anyway to change that transmission or not possible?
I own havoc x 3 weeks couple things I would change more foot room for 13 size work boot when exiting ride and little tilt back on seat . Other than that kick ass .
There are some salty people one here hating on artic cat. I'm a Honda guy, but when textron was taking over, Bass Pro had clearance sales on their artic cat line ups. I picked up a 2017 Alterra 700 for $4300. All I have to say is that it is an absolute Grizzly killer! The grizzly 700 has no choice but to eat the Alterras dust. Sorry Yamaha fans...
Hey Textron listen ,,keep the Arctic Cat name Textron sounds like a stock on wallstreet thats all. Not an offroad machine. The Stampede needs help to sell big numbers,,, put the 80 hp motor in the Prowler HDX ,,, give it a lower differential gear ratio so it goes 50 mph ,,, thats fast enough. Most guys put big tires on with a lift and that gear ratio helps them bigtime. Give it a turf mode on the rear diff. Keep the real locker on the front diff and leave the AWD crap to Polaris. Give it real 1/2 doors from the factory and put those effin nets you know where. Design an easy on hard cab and great soft cab option so its a 4 season machine. Make the dash a bit more useful and get rid of the high center and sloping sides of the prowler dash. Put the 2 inch receiver back on the front for us boat and trailer movers. Make it so you can lift the bed and sevice the motor. Tilt and powersteering on all models. Change the Stampede gear selector so it is low-high-n-reverse and a parking brake lever instead of in the shift pattern. That is for us guys that plow alot with a side x side and push up for low range and pull down for reverse. Im not sure the guys that design these actually use them and a 7 minute video on youtube from some dirt magazine with a bearded guy that has his hat pulled over his ears is'nt gonna know this stuff either. And give it at least a 1 year warranty. Most utility owners dont buy a different utv every 3 years they run a long time if it has what they want. If Arctic Cat offered this it would be in my garage now and would really make it hard for alot of buyers to buy a Ranger. Textron are you listening!!!
I'm having problems getting parts and accessories for a 2017 Wildcat trail utv. This is my first cat and if I don't start getting satisfaction my last.
MLS power sports is a one stop shop for anything on a wildcat. oem parts in a few days and lots of aftermarket. also get on wildcat riders on facebook very help full group
The mistake is not in changing the name its in their 2018 lineup. Go have a look, no more 1000 in a quad and no 2up quad. Basically dump the alterra except for a 500. Hope its not the full lineup or brp and polaris sales will go up another few ticks
I had never heard of this company until a week ago. Textron sounds like an oil company, not a company that makes ATV/UTVs. Brand recognition is critical in the game and that name doesn’t yet have it.
Textron y would you stop producing the mud pro 1000, I bought your 19 mp 700, and it lacks power..then when I put a little bigger tire on it now it REALLY lacks mid range an top end..other than that it's not a bad machine..BRING BACK THE 1000!!!!!!
Dear Textron, Fire your marketing geniuses. I’ll never buy anything intended for fun named “Textron.” “Hey wanna go for a ride on my Textron?” or maybe “Let’s go ride the Textrons!” You also managed to make the Arctic Cat model names standing on their own (or with Textron) appear like they are models which originate from a Chinese company. You made them generic. You even have to put “Textron Off Road” because nobody has a clue what a Textron could be from the name. I doubt even Hodaka had such self-induced branding problems. Face it...ya blew it. Giving you a hint. $$$$$ If you are worried about the guy in Amarillo call it the Cow Cat. It would be an improvement over Textron.
The Arctic does have summers there mr. corporate. Has nothing to do with regional limitations. It actually makes it a much more diverse and less regional. We have the coldest of the cold, but those 24hr. days will bring you right into the triple digits. That’s how most wild fires start up here. Very over simplified and complete ignorance on everything you talked about in those regards.
Textron's Offroad website has no info on the Arctic Cat Alterra TRV 1000 XT (2 person). Its like it doesn't exist. Really don't care about any of the military products and private jets. Sounds like a bunch of corporate mumbo jumbo. Rule #1 for any acquisition is not screwing up what you just bought and killing off established brand names provide absolutely zero improvement to the customers, only add cost and confusion. By now, I'm sure all of the old company and people have been turned upside down which is what happens with a corporate take over. Quality and moral usually go down in this period of uncertainty. Sad.
The corporate decision by Textron to produce a Chinese manufactured Cessna single engine training aircraft was an abject failure. Even with Chinese dubious labor costs it was overpriced, underperformed and had a sketchy quality control issue in testing. Textron may not have their finger on the pulse of their customers like they think they do.
build off road machines that are as good as Can Am and Polaris with more horsepower and you will do well, because we all know horsepower is what most of us are after. never want your buddies to beat you on the wide open trails or dunes.
And why is that? A great American company with lots of reliability in their other products that are military used...go ride your Polaris and can ams LOL
I’m gonna day they got rid of the Arctic Cat brand name because most knowledgeable folk correlated that name with cheap, unreliable garbage. Arctic Cat atv’s have been junk for years, very similar to Polaris products. Hopefully Textron can realign their dirt products fo be of quality.
Textron atv looks like its for farming. I had no idea this happened as I don’t follow Artic cat because I ride Can Am . They have a lot of branding and proving to do to compete with Polaris and Can Am it will take decades. Even if they catch up and say they are even in quality and quantity people will still buy what the are comfortable with. The will have to hit hard with good looks - quality and features to bring in new buyers. People are so brand loyal with ATV and side by sides I am Can Am person and find it hard to look at a Polaris and I know that Polaris is always riding along side me and up my butt if not carful. Polaris is a better value when it comes to dollars. CF Moto has already come along ways and it catching on but they are pricing too high and inline with Polaris and Can am so this are dropping the pricing. I do not buy single 1 person ATV’s but Yamaha -Honda and Suzuki have that all fine tuned good luck building better unit that those.
Took a long time to catch up hey? The wildcats suspension is second to none and out blasts the canams and the rzrs. Go look on some videos of some unbiased people testing them all. Textron has a lot deeper pockets then canam as whom Ill add that they had to get a loan from the government to keep the company up and running. You should know your facts before you start typing.
🤦🏻♂️ ironic. I made Parts that went on, Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC) 😡 why don’t you take care of the original Bad Boy customers. It literally took me two weeks to find parts because you don’t make it easy for the original Bad Boy customers. Lots of money, no common sense. Made in the USA kind of😅
If you want the dirt product line to kick off in the south, get rid of the name arctic cat.... It's got too much mud on the name. We see it like a Walmart brand.
Blah blah. Where is the XX promised over a year ago? They’re not going to get the market share by letting Polaris and Can-am sell for 2 + years ahead of them! Shit, Honda will probably beat them to the sport market!
The Textron name is horrible. It doesn't even sound good coming off your tongue. It reminds me of some cheap chinese atv clone company. Should've called the dirt side Wildcat. Wildcat stampede, wildcat Alterra, etc... also the textron insignia looks like the Air force insignia. The machines look cool though.
The robby gordon suspension was not a good idea. I m exciting about the new wildcat. I m a polaris guy but I really dont like there front diff design because it s not reliable. I dont like the wheel base on the maverick x3. Its really too long on the 64" version. So if textron can come out with a machine that dont have the wheel base of a school bus like can am do, and dont have a front diff that break every 4 month, like my rzr do, I will be happy to buy the new wildcat.
Ok so now i know to never buy an Arctic Cat, since it now belongs to a brand that STRONGLY supports, finances and live out of fuck*ng WARS around the globe...bye bye Arctic Cat and Textron!
Be thankful that Textron had the deep pockets and the confidence to buy Arctic Cat. The Chinese had been attempting to buy the company for several years before Textron got involved.

You messed up changing the name and discontinuing the 1000 Thundercat atv.
i see them taking a huge bite out of Polaris's military contracts. the future is bright.
Its dumb to take a recognized name away. Everyone and their mother know Arctic Cat, I had to research Textron. Sounds like a Chinese knockoff brand to me. It saddens me to see old names that have been around for years go away.
Couldn't have said it better myself
Agree, it's okay to change it update the product, but throwing away that brand recognition is stupid

I did not know this stuff at all. Nice

Korey Whitaker my 14 pro has been a great bike
Shane Barnett Awesome! Great to hear.
I want a choice on utv performance engines for wildcat x.

....now they anged it back to Arctic Cat. They learned, and that's a good thing. I own a Wikdcat XX. it rocks!
Do they exist anymore? I can't find help for my Textron Recoil LS. Started with a Bad Boy there first year but am very disappointed in Textron.
I thought Textron was a new Chinese budget entry company for at least 2 months now. Should have marketed this change better.
Yeah you needed to bring it back....as you did!
There are some salty people one here hating on artic cat. I'm a Honda guy, but when textron was taking over, Bass Pro had clearance sales on their artic cat line ups. They made a big mistake
What’s up from Amarillo since he used it in the video 🤣
just got the 2018 wild cat x and it is bad ass
So do this guys own the TRACKER brand? Looks very similar
No. They make the products for Tracker Off Road and the new Caterpillar UTVs.
Wish the HDX would have gotten the upgraded engine and suspension of the Stampede instead of killing it.
Need an aggresive big bore atv.
rzl07375 I agree if they want to be competitive they need to be able to play with the big dogs. If not they better not get off the porch
I knew it as
LCAC 100 class
‼️‼️AKA textron marine
I had never heard of this company until a week ago. Textron sounds like an oil company, not a company that makes ATV/UTVs. Brand recognition is critical in the game and that name doesn’t yet have it.
Ok bud keep eating your Cheerios
Nathan Sullivan wow.....AMAZING comment
If Textron is so innovative and advanced the why are they using kymco engines and cvts in their atvs and their tracker brand atvs???
I can't wait for an all new 60 inch to be released.
Textron y would you stop producing the mud pro 1000, I bought your 19 mp 700, and it lacks power..then when I put a little bigger tire on it now it REALLY lacks mid range an top end..other than that it's not a bad machine..BRING BACK THE 1000!!!!!!
Hopefully they can have reliable machines not like wild cat my buddies burnt to the ground bad news man
At least the Chinese didn't buy it and absolutely destroy Artic Cat

Face it...ya blew it. Giving you a hint. $$$$$ If you are worried about the guy in Amarillo call it the Cow Cat. It would be an improvement over Textron.
It sounded like this guy was talking in a loop.
Decent interview but the one glaring thing I see is that they completely ignored women who are involved in ATV/UTV.
Horse power is lacking.. they need to field the quickest and fastest OEM machine in the market.. if your not first your last.. seriously
Textron's Offroad website has no info on the Arctic Cat Alterra TRV 1000 XT (2 person). Its like it doesn't exist. Really don't care about any of the military products and private jets. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Make the machines have an obvious speed advantage.. you will steal the market..
And that is V22 not B2...
I thought the V22 was made by Boeing?!?!?!?!?!?!
he should be a politician

partner with Tesla and bring EV tech to ATV and UTV. Imagine the speed and power and torque. And 4 wheel control.
build off road machines that are as good as Can Am and Polaris with more horsepower and you will do well, because we all know horsepower is what most of us are after. never want your buddies to beat you on the wide open trails or dunes.
I like the name arctic cat better
That was the consensus and they've actually switched back to the AC name on their offroad vehicles.
Heyyyyyyyy
Austin Haviland SSAWWWWW DUDE
Sure wish Textron would keep the Wildcat X body style and just guve it more power. I think the XX is ugly.
Stampede textron very very hot in cab ,
Second place is what your doing with weak power plants..
Good, make a name for yourself!
Good luck your gonna need it 😂
And why is that? A great American company with lots of reliability in their other products that are military used...go ride your Polaris and can ams LOL

I made Parts that went on, Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC)
😡 why don’t you take care of the original Bad Boy customers.
Yes, what's the status? Demos in Cali?
I saw one in a local showroom and it looks very impressive !
Textron is a terrible name for an ATV or anything fun.
Shitcat is junk... no one can say otherwise.
Ok so now i know to never buy an Arctic Cat, since it now belongs to a brand that STRONGLY supports, finances and live out of fuck*ng WARS around the globe...bye bye Arctic Cat and Textron!
Get rid of artic crap textron
Arctic Cat forever Textron crap never!!!!
