  • BlockW in partnership with IOB hosted a webinar on the EU's Artificial Intelligence Act (the "AI Act"). The guest speaker was Professor Barry O'Sullivan, Director, Insight Centre for Data Analytics, School of Computer Science & IT, University College Cork
    Speakers
    Professor Barry O'Sullivan is an award-winning academic working in the fields of artificial intelligence, constraint programming, operations research, AI/data ethics, and public policy. He contributes to several global Track II AI diplomacy efforts at the interface of military, defence, intelligence, and AI.
    Professor O’Sullivan is a full professor at the School of Computer Science & IT at University College Cork and a member of its Governing Body. He is founding Director of the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics at UCC and Director of the SFI Centre for Research Training in AI. He is an Adjunct Professor at Monash University.
    Professor Joyce O’Connor
    A global Eisenhower Fellow , Professor Joyce O’Connor is the founding President of the National College of Ireland (NCI) . She is recognised as a leading academic and researcher and has published widely. Professor O’Connor is a Co-founder and Chair of BlockW, Chair of the Digital Group and the Digital Policy Forum of the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA) and a member of the Academic Advisory Group of the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA). Professor O’Connor has been recognised nationally and internationally for her work, receiving honorary doctorates for her work in education and research as well as Women of the Year Award, Award of Honour for research, an Eisenhower Fellow Distinguished Alumnus Award and an EU Ambassador Women 4 IT Award 2022 .

    BlockW is a female lead not for profit organisation whose mission is to create awareness of and increase access to emerging technologies for women and girls. Through advocacy, strategic partnerships and collaborations, by building networks, offering learning events, research and resources BlockW empowers women and girls to thrive in this digital age / landscape. Supported by a diverse network of members from business, academia, government and civil society, BlockW is driving change and fostering a more equitable society .
    𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐖 & 𝐈𝐎𝐁
    Since 2020 BlockW has developed a series of micro-learning modules for the 34,400 members of the Institute of Bankers (IOB), a high proportion of whom are women (the IOB have a strong focus on developing women’s potential through initiatives such as this one). The IOB digital library is available to all members.
