It is hard to find a more savage or murderous kingdom in Europe, at the time, than England...incredibly savage even for the time.

The Catholic Church was even more cruel during the Inquisition. So many senseless murders by Protestants and Catholics in the name of religion. Jesus must be ashamed and horrified by all of them.

Other European countries were much the same. What about the St Bartholomew's Day massacre in France? Unlike the rest of Europe torture was illegal in England at this time, although a few exceptions were made in exceptional circumstances.

I wonder how the prince of peace feels about so many people murdered/massacred in his name over the ages .

Or saints being prayed to in worship when this was against the message.

@@annettefournier9655 Saints are not worshipped but are asked to pass on our prayers to Almighty God. God bless the English Martyrs

Sometimes it seems that we live in a difficult age, but imagine living at that time! I think almost every branch of the church should repent in dust and ashes for things that happened back them.

    Religion strikes again

Why should one religion be better than the other? We can’t force it into people’s minds by hanging or wars. Religion has always been the for front of all wars. If you don’t like how one person lives through their religion, as long as it doesn’t harm a person be it child or adult, then turn the other cheek. We all can be happier if we tried to help others if they are in trouble. In a tornado that came through my town and wiped it off the face of the earth, everyone helped each other. Religion was not in our minds.
