Thank you, great commentary, fascinating description, especially since Iam a materials scientist. I bought a refina roller pan mixer with 85kg rollers, what is the procedure to get a good sticky product suitable for large scale internal plastering work ? Any key advice on composition ? Buxton lime in pellet form is a quality but expensive product. What is the working time (tine window to get plaster by throwing onto the wall) ? Yes, original Irish external renders are 50% porous to allow rain water to evaporate from the render, so watery never gets locked into it, keeping stone walls dry, clever people. The aggregate is oyster shells and river bed stones, and the aggregate size is much larger than what is inside the internal plasters, yet composition is the same, so aggregate was sieved and nothing else. The building has zero damp inside, genius craftsman back in 1800s. See my analysis of the original mortars in my TH-cam videos.thank you.
Hi Nigel, Thankyou for the video. I tried this with quicklime.and crushed sand. I got a good.consistency but faced issue with bondib and mortar drying. I used red bricks and the above mortar but the mortar still feels wet after 2 days. I tried the same on.fly ash bricks, the mortar for some reason dried up quickly but there was 0 bonding, i was able to lift the bricks as if nothing was there. Am i missing something. I hope you ciuld help me here..thanks

Is it the heat that can really help bonding the materials together ? They must of enjoyed experimenting and competing on best practices ?

Drowned your mix?
Where do i buy quicklime near Detroit, MI, USA? Does it come in containers? Smallest 1/2 ton? How important is it that the quicklime is fresh?
Hi Nigel what buckets do you use? The first small batch mix I did in front of the customer ended in disaster as it literally melted the gorilla tub😅
Nigel where can I buy lime for this procedure in new england?
