You deserve an award for best video! As stated by so many others, this video just saved my family a ton of money! All I did was unplug everything and go through the holes on the end of my pump with a small screwdriver. I turned clockwise very little at a time maybe 5 times and tried it! Magic! It’s working! Thank you!
IT WORKED!!! My pump seemed dead… so I changed the turn on switch 1st… then heard a hum from the pump… sign of life… I sprayed the middle of turning thing under cap…then used my battery powered drill with flat head… turned it a few times to loosen it… then had my wife flick the switch on at moment I was turning the middle screw thing. It kicked right on!! 🙌🏻 JESUS ☝🏻💗
Thanks for the info. I don't turn on my spa motor enough and consequently I'm pretty sure it freezes up. I'm sure going to try your fix before calling the pool guy, as this is probably exactly what he did last time before charging me $150. Really appreciate it.....
It worked indeed. I had a slight different scenario. For me, I had the same above ground pool w/pump. Less than a few years old. I had left a pool thermometer in the pool floating around. The cheap, $5 ones from Walmart. It had a long, maybe foot long or so, white nylon rope attached to it. Got sucked in down in the pump. Wrapped around the impeller piece so tightly that it stopped the motor. Long story short, while leaving the pump attached to the pool, I was able to bang on the bottom and bottom sides with a rubber mallet. Several times on and off. Motor went from silence, to a hum. A few more light/moderate strikes all around with the mallet, she came back on! Full speed! I did need to remove the entire pump to remove the tangled up nylon. Always be safe, but this method/ingenuity is capable of solving a lot of these pump issues.
How many years have you had it? If there is no humming noise then it may be done. It may be time to buy another one. The one I linked to is still going strong for me and I purchased the warranty offered to guarantee me about 5 years as I recall. Thanks for watching today!
@@hoov45 Not yet I put some ice to cool it down even though it wasnt really hot just a little warm and after couple of hours it turned right on. So the over load switch triggers the united off to protect the motor.
Mine will spin like you showed but I have no hum. The pump has been getting hot and shutting it self off. Have come back n its running again. Shut it off last night to listen to fireworks. Come back out in morning and nothing. Nothing all day 22 hrs later. 😢😢 ???? No burnt looking area when I took black switch lid off. I could turn it like you did. Still nothing ???
If you can't turn the impeller around with your finger some then that bearings may be to far gone. When I replaced my pump I found a good one and made a video about it. I also decided to go ahead and get the extended warranty to give me several years with peace of mind that I would not have to worry about buying another one. Here's that link to that video and my installation of the new pump. th-cam.com/video/gTD_OK_xxBg/w-d-xo.html Good luck and thanks for watching.

We have a Pentairjust like in your video but ours is very noisy. Any suggestions before buying a new one?
It's likely that the bearing in it are wearing out. I have been satisfied with the ones I have purchased. They won't last forever.
Worked like you said appreciated sir

Hey I left my motor run for way under a minute and today right now it turns on but for only a second or two what should I do ?
If the motor runs for a bit and then stops, it might be time for a new one.

The loud motor has bad bearings, which are easy to replace.

5 yr old pump looks just like the one in video the Pentair one.
Put the cover back on. Hit it with a rubber mallett and it came on. NEXT !!!
Glad you got it fixed!
Whoa
Mine won’t turn
