    You could dig up that Tiger Eye Sumac and move it to the new property where it could take up as much room as it could want.

    • @loloholmes2793
      @loloholmes2793 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, that's what I'd do too, or at least start cuttings to be ready to go in next Spring....but I'm not reliant on creating TH-cam content for my income. Have to generate those clicks to appease the TH-cam overlords.

    • @RTCPhotoWork
      @RTCPhotoWork ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@loloholmes2793I don't understand the relevance of the last part of your comment. A small series on propagating some trees plus how to prune the sumac would bring in clicks and ad revenue.

      @@RTCPhotoWork right? like why?

    • @zeetalzee5582
      @zeetalzee5582 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RTCPhotoWork While i agree that an entire tree propagating series would be great for revenue, the idea of putting in something that would just be set-to-run as wide as it wants would take up valuable real estate for other projects, too.
      Though, reality being, pulling the tree back in both the south garden and the 'dust garden' (Benjamin is so cute) is also good content.
      Whatever they choose, I know I'll be enjoying and watching. :)

      In April we bought 6 large Wax Myrtles from a local nursery. Had them deliver and plant them. They were planted at ground level.
      We then bought 6 more from the same nursery. Had them delivered but this time, to save money, we planted them. We planted them high. Not because we thought that was the right thing to do but because we planted after work, we were tired, got lazy, and the mosquitoes were starting to come out.
      Guess which 6 shrubs are doing better than the other 6? The ones WE planted!

    I see a lot of people suggesting horses. As a lifelong horse owner- make sure it’s a passion before you take the leap. They require a ton of work and money. Vet bills are a fortune. Hay is hard to source these days, sometimes costing 13-15$ a bale and you have to have 1/2-3/4 bale per horse per day and store all of it for the whole season bc hay growers won’t store. So be ready to build hay barn too. Manure-50# per day per horse so a lot more than you can compost so have to pay for haul off. Have to own two bc herd animals. Just the last two weeks I’ve had one colic and one with kick injury - 2200$ vet bills. When it’s feet of snow… you still have to feed and muck stalls. I love it but have been doing it for forty five years. I see so many people think it’s “fun” and then back out when it gets rough or expensive and horses end up on Craigslist/auction which means they go to feedlots unfortunately.

      Thank you for this comment...you are absolutely correct in "this is the reality" accessment. People think gardening is physically demanding & challenging...owning livestock is much more so & its year round!! Takes an owner who's passionate about the animals wellbeing.

    Please do not put the barn at the back of the pasture. As a life long horse owner, you will really regret that. The best place would be where your high tunnel is now. In addition, I remember you have walnut trees back there - black walnut is extremely poisonous to horses. In fact, they can founder just from standing on a tiny amount of wood shavings with black walnut. This happened to a boarding barn in my area - some horses died and several foundered. You want to keep a close eye on your horses in case they get sick (which can happen very quickly if they colic).

      I agree keep the stable as close as possible for easy access.
      Also two pastures that can be rotated are better than one big one.
      I have ponies (mostly Welsh) and am slowly building a garden landscape, many plants aren't good for them so just have to be mindful of what they have in their general area that they may be able to reach

    Always fun to watch you guys planting trees! I don’t have that much space to grow as many trees as I would like so your video is just like dreams come true to me! 😊❤

    I love seeing Benjamin getting in there and working with you guys. I hope you showed him how beautiful his plants looked on the tour. You should give them each a little area where they can decide what to plant and you can walk them through decisions !

    Two summers ago, I planted a autumn blaze maple. I planted it’s similarly. The reason being is our property is moist most of the time. With planting it higher, the root ball and the roots did not drown in the water. This summer we’ve had nothing but rain since the end of May. That tree has done the best of all of trees we planted. It has actually tripled in size. And has the most amazing fall color. So I think your trees gonna do just fine the way it’s planted.
    12:09 I love how Amanda just jumped in the hold help. So cute. Future Gardener in training.
    We just discovered the reason why Amanda sleep so well. She is constantly grounding. Her not wearing her shoes is the best thing for her. She’s taking up the energy from mother earth.

    Hi guys!! Exciting first plantings!!! I’m curious about how much gardening knowledge Aaron had when you started your TH-cam journey. He always seems to be just as knowledgeable as Laura. He can give his opinions and fully back them up. Love watching you guys!!

    Laura, how very exciting!! I would love to see a dedicated “winter garden” in that space, full of things that are gorgeous in winter! Bressingham Gardens in UK is a wonderful place for inspiration. Can’t wait to see what you make of this space!

    I share your love of planting many, many trees, and am beyond thrilled in anticipation of watching this project unfold over time. I just know you'll be creating a magical forest. It was great to see your whole family at work, especially Samantha jumping right into the hole being dug. Many blessings to you and yours, you bring us such joy and knowledge with each and every video. 💞💖

    Laura, how many plants, that you have, without buying more, could you plant before the first frost? Just when I think you are done, here comes more trees! 😆😊 It is so fun to watch the kids help. Aaron worked that tractor like a pro!

    Such a great plan for your beautiful new land. If you do the barn….two words-sleeping deck. If you have a gable roof on the back, toward the babbling ditch, an exterior wall, pulled about 15’ under the roof’s protection, with decking out to where the exterior wall below is, and on the second story,……soooo peaceful and fun. There’s nothing like it.

    Good morning Laura and family!!! Such a sweet video with the children helping out. Maybe since you still have much to plant in the south garden and up front where you are going to redo the grrass area that will keep your mind off perennials in the dust garden. We will see.....hugs from N.C..❤

    I can only imagine the amount of money and generational wealth that goes into a property like this, not to mention the staff to upkeep the property. Actually incredible

    • @kellieleahy66
      @kellieleahy66 ปีที่แล้ว

      They don't have generational wealth. They worked their butts off. Go back and watch how they started. Both worked full time plus jobs, then came home and worked on making videos. Most people with money worked very hard and smartly to acquire it.

    • @Meaganttv
      @Meaganttv ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kellieleahy66 Yeah, I mostly meant if they started working at her family's store then their family probably grew up with a lot of land right. Doesn't mean they didnt work hard but this is a huge estate

    • @kellieleahy66
      @kellieleahy66 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Meaganttv Aaron didn't work at Andrew's. Laura did. Her parents have a modest amount of property. Her dad worked at Andrew's as a teen and ended up buying it with a business partner. Their "wealth" was built over time but wasn't generational.
      Laura and Aaron don't own a lot of land, actually. They have just packed a lot onto the land they own. It's probably 10 acres or less. If you go back and watch from the first season, you'll get a better glimpse of their lives.
      It is incredible what focus, hard work, and dedication can produce.
