I received an offer to study economics at Jesus for this year and my advice would be to just have a genuine interest and passion for both economics and maths. If you do it will come across in your personal statement and interviews and a passion for maths should mean you perform better in further maths and the TMUA. Though I did only score a 6.2 so don't be too worried if you're not a maths genius!
@@ethanpaynter6017 Well I wanted to know what extracurricular I should add as I am not any Olympiad winner and not so good in maths . My score are average so I am not sure about it and can you tell me is there any other mathematics courses I should show in my application because I don't think my academic are too good to be qualified. But I have genuine interest in economics and have done many extracurricular in this but not sure about maths .
Another great video my brother !! I am definitely looking to get MSc in Econ from Camebridge. This is obviously whether I am able to break into IB or not then I will maybe delay the process and look to maybe apply to do a MSc later. What are your thoughts on MSc and are you looking to do one ?
Hi Sam. I'm in grade 9, and aiming to do economics at Cambridge, and I only have an option to do maths at A-level, and not further maths or economics, here in my country. Will this hinder me significantly? And how much does extracurricular activities, like extra math courses and summer-school in economics matter? :- ) I'm not able to have economics at any level in Denmark, and further maths isn't even a subject here. The closest thing is international economics, but that is not avaible at my highschool. I'll be doing politics, maths, history, danish (my native language) and english at a-level :- )
I'd definitely try and do extracurriculars such as extra math courses and summer-schools. These show you have a passion for the subject and are proactive.
this was really helpful, the sample interview question was amazing, can you please tell me where to find more sample interview questions from different colleges? thx
@@SamHillman does our raw marks for AS exams matter? would a 90% A have more advantage than a 70%A assuming all other aspects of the application is the same?
@@anaklusmus I’m not entirely sure, but I do think you submit AS marks as part of the ‘My Cambridge Application’, so they may consider it. However, it’s likely that if someone is getting 90, compared to someone else who is getting 70, the person getting 90 will probably do better in the TMUA, and may do better at the problem solving interview questions.
this is super useful - do you have any tips on what kind of work experience, specific courses, books or lectures to engage in? or competitions to participate in?
I am Indonesian, 21 years old. Is there a maximum age to enroll in undergraduate programs at Cambridge University? I really hope you answer my question because I don't have any acquaintances who studied there. Thank you🙏🏻
how would i be able to practise my skills in thinking in a logical and creative way in a pressured environment (ie the interview)? thank you very much for the video!
search up interview questions for maths or econ and then either do them with friends or grab a blank piece of paper and talk out loud all the steps or pathways you are going to take as you do the question. It sounds awkward but it is certainly less awkward than doing nothing until the actual interview and having to explain ur reasoning .

I’m not sure if all colleges have them, it may be worth checking out the college-specific websites

Hi, I would like to ask how important work experience is for Cambridge application or any other universities like LSE, Warwick etc.
I honestly wouldn't say it's that important for Cambridge - they care much more about your academics. Not really sure about the other two.
