  • I bought it at Harbor Freight with a 25% off coupon, after using it once, it was worth it!

I have been wanting a transmission jack for a long time, so I finally sprung for one, I am happy with it, for the dollar its a good buy, I did have to modify one thing. The angles that are supposed to fit the transmission pan are too short for the trans I used it on.
It still would have worked fine that way, but I used some longer pieces of angle iron and welded them to the INSIDE of the angles, as it barely went small enough to fit the trans I pulled out. Other than that, love it.

    HIT:
    - Price
    - Fully adjustable head
    - Handle pivots to any side
    - Wheels big enough to roll on the uneven floor I used
    - One person can lift it easy enough, but its very HD built.
    - I would recommend it
    MISS:
    - Safety chain is a little hokey, but it does work
    - Id like to see longer angles on the pan holder

Been using mine 20 years Now. Don't leak down or anything. I have easily used it 100 times or more. Was tied in with a guy that had a used car license. We bought things that needed engines transmissions. Lot of clutches too. Biggest with that Jack NV4500 and transfer case together was no problem at all.

Just used mine to remove the trans on a 2003 Impala. I used two ratcheting straps to hold it and I didn't want the nuts projecting from the plate to dig into the trans pan so I put the adjustable arms on the bottom of the plate and bolts going up from the bottom into the plate so the plate itself was flat. Hope that's clear! Anyway, it went well and I was able to do it alone (sadly, no friends). Replaced the torque converter and seal, removed the valve body to replace the pump drive, all still sitting on the jack. The jack's oil fill hole isn't easy to access and the plug is rubber and real hard to get back in so I'll replace that. An excellent purchase. Usually, you can't use the %off coupons but frequently this jack goes on sale for $119. Sign up for the monthly catalog and emails.

@@vanquishstorm3806 It's been a while so I had to take a look at the jack. It's not all the way in, still about 1/4" high. I think I used a small screwdriver prying it in little by little. It's really in a tough location. At some point, I'll find a replacement in the hardware store that goes in more easily and still won't leak.

@@geecrawdad Thanks for the reply. After much time spent, I was finally able to reinstall the plug. I used the end of closed needle nose pliers and gently nudged into the plug as I was pushing it in. I will for certain be ordering a new plug. HF should have used a fill bolt instead of the rubber drain plug.

God i wish I bought this jack! I bought the cheap jack and it was hell! Transmission almost slid off while all the way up in the tunnel, then the ratchet tie down that comes with it cranks right on the side of the transmission, so if you don’t have a huge transmission tunnel your pretty much screwed, because the ratchet gets lodged in between your transmission and the side of the tunnel. Don’t be cheap! Lesson learned!

Worked fine. Have to basically balance the load in the stand. You don’t want it too off balance as it will make the tilt adjustments hard to turn. But I’m happy with it.

I bought one that came bent and twisted. Not from shipping. I sent it back and after a month got a replacement that worked for a month then would bleed off with a transmission on it. I called Harbor freight about the warranty. They said to send it back and they would warranty part of it plus I'd have to wait a month or longer to get another jack. No more cheap crap for me. I'll never buy from Harbor freight again.
