A popular device used for quotation and storytelling.
This began on the *chan imageboards, where quoting text places a Less or Greater than symbol in front of it, turning it green. This effect can also be done manually. Before long, this feature was put to innovative use. When quoting another post, greentext is frequently used for summary, criticism, and ridicule. Its other major use is storytelling, in which a lengthy story is told through fragmentary statements in greentext.
Greentext became highly popular for both of these functions due to its convenience. When quoting a post, it is easier to summarize than to respond in full. When telling a story, stringing together sentence fragments is a grammatically easier alternative to prose composition (it also makes for lighter reading).
This feature has become so widespread that it is sometimes used outside of imageboards (eg TH-cam comments).

I just realised that this lil girl prolly thought the alien was a kid ... She was bigger... So ...😭😭😭 Her actions were probably looking after another kid... Protecting her😭😭😭 giving her the last rations for that reason!!!😭😭😭 Baby was even more heroic!! Sniffles... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Not only that... But she prolly thought that kid helped her to escape and never knew she was her kidnapper!!!
This was actually one of the first r/hfy stories I ever read. It has set a pretty high bar ever since. I can just see Chloe sitting there, singing "Somewhere out there" to the stars, and hoping that her family was still out there.

Bittersweet and thoughtful. Very nice.
Chloe is a hero of earth for initialising first contact wirh extraterestials and making such an impression as to grant us access to extraterrestial technology.
Her passing in this endavour, not being able to see what she created, can only be paid forward to those who will benefit from what we create for a future we will never see.
The extraterrestials should change their abduction laws to honor chloe and the benefit mankind brought to the stars.
Reparations should be given to the family of chloe, so they can concentrate on healing and are awarded for raising such a great human being. These reparations should allow them to become parents again too, so that their family legacy can continue.
