@@Digitalknifeparty black midi is awesome and they're one of my favorite bands but they're pretty different from the Mars Volta, all things considered. Maybe that's just me tho, I mean they're both energetic wacky prog after all.
Man, people talk a lot of shit for one of the most impressive live performances i've ever seen. To maintain the integrity of this song live is just jawdropping. Incredibly difficult song to be able to pull off.
@rob5000x1 Haha, yeah. Omar's pretty much consists of him saying how simple his setup is and how much he doesn't know/care about the intricacies of it. He's a technically minded person, it seems, but not a 'gearhead'.
@goodeyesniper14 Exactly, I watched a video showing what pedals he uses etc.. They do so many different sounds, just watch some of his bass solo videos.
When hearing new bands like TMV - which I like - I realize how fucking unreal some of the old school singers where that NEVER missed a tone... e.g. Bruce Dickingson, David Coverdale... Singers in the true sense.
@rob5000x1 nah, really. on the back of the cd says ouroborous, but I believe it was misspelled, and that it's related with the symbol of the snake biting his own tail forming a circle. If you check on the ASCAP site it's registered as Ouroboros, and as a "variation" Ouroborous (this last one works as a subtitle or alternative name, this means that if they have to look for this song particular in their database, they can write both names, but the first one's the original)
i don't understand why Juan Alderete needs two stacked pedalboards. He's a bassist. How many different sounds can you possibly get out of an instrument thats that low of a register? Don't get me wrong, he's fucking beast. I just don't get the need for all of those. (sidenote: i'm a bassist and use a couple of pedals myself).
@johnnycakes2k Dude, just watch his Juan's Rig Rundown video and you'll see exactly what can be done with a bass guitar and some pedals. It's the best Rig Rundown I've seen.
@SpookyAction123 I agree with you, I believe Omar and Cedric have apologized for their "questionable" aka shitty performances in the past which is why they seem to pay A LOT more attention to the music then just jumping around and throwing things across the stage
You're right, they are good, but personally I wouldn't go any further than that. They're not on the Volta's level, but better than most rock now-a-days. Btw, why aren't they accessible? I've looked at just about all the major mp3 music providers, and the only song of theirs that comes up is "drones". I would like to sample more of their music.
A Black Neil Pert! I'm a drummer also(not like this though). He is real good. Taking nothing away from Dale Bozio or any other drummer..but....MANG!!! When they all do the same "chops", how can you tell whose "better"?
+Lucas Palavecino I'm guessing you mean the one that doesn't sound too generic. Sounds like a stack of a china and cymbal. Maybe china and crash on the top.
Finally someone agrees with me! Seems like no one can look past their addiction for the band and see how bad Cedric's singing is when live. I personally don't understand why there is such a gap between studio Cedric and live Cedric...
Boris Gucovski They can make anyone sound decent in a studio. I love The mars volta. But thats why his studio vocals are better. They are edited and mastered. Plus They are the best takes. He most likely sang phrases over and over on each song then the producer chooses the best line to keep
Yet ANOTHER example of TMV sounding great on album but SHIT live - except for Thomas and Juan who are always rock solid. Those two hold this band together.
i fuckin love their music AND their intensity live...BUT...cedric is hardly off many times (sadly often in many songs, his vocal work is just too fuckin high for him...) and pridgen is just not my style...for me hes a unbelievable talented drummer, who loves himself way tooo much...
the mars volta. every sound guy's worst nightmare
Jack Woodward I cant imagine checking levels for this. God damn. Just throw your hands in the air and tinker as they play?
It’s a miracle when there’s a live recording of them and we can hear Ikey (RIP)
@@Digitalknifepartyi like ur name
I don't believe there will ever be another band quite like them again.
TMV was astonishing... I miss them.
Black midi maybe
Animals as Leaders?

This drummer rules!!
The mars volta's metal album just proving they can do it all
?????
@@lukasgodoy7461 hes right, bedlam is easily the heaviest album theyre ever writen till date
I would sell my soul to be as good as TP.
Pridgen is a Fucking Beast!
Bands can't be this good. They are not like any other band.
0% autotune
100% rock & talent
except for Cedric's autotune mic he started using after Amputechture... really wish he didn't start using it
Holy crap this is awesome
TMV epic as always
Шедевр!!!
But he more than makes up for it with his stage presence which is why they're still one of my all time favorite bands live.
Ouroborous, reminds me resident evil 5

Underrated song!!
Yessssssss!
it sounds awesome very solid...
and if u ever go to their live shows its mostly songs that jam into each other

@DangerRifai saw it. Answers my question. It definitely was a very meticulous rundown.
This is fucking amazing!
@johnnycakes2k Because hes not just a bassist...hes a bassists for TMV...thus making all those pedals needed
Insanity peaking and spiriling starting at 5:46
@Parazetamol666 You gave me such a big grin.
@dwdrummerboi He uses it so its easier to catch when he flips and swings it. Some other singer does that too, but I forget right >.
omar with his signature ibanez 🥶
when will you flirt with all thats burning? The Mars Volta in a nutshell.
5:46 extremely high frequency. May be lethal.
I DIEEEEEEEEEE D:
@DiegoAlbertoMayia Bass is fucking epic, it doesnt show much in this song but Juan is fucking amazing
lol,I was about to say that. and silent hill shattered memories
LOL! At 1:58 it looks like Marcel isn't wearing any pants XD
Latin pride!!!!!!!
Cedric and Claudio from Coheed and Cambria should do a song together. lol
Ears would explode

TP great great great great great great great great great great grandfather INVENTED drums!!! and he has Assassin's Creed Genetic memory!
does any one else hear this sick metronome? :D ... i guess it's name was thomas or something ... !
@HiPPoKryPtiC They're too different to say that. I love both and can't really decide which I like more.
@BasketClash that makes sense. Thanks man.
@bobbyprince890 those are some hip looking kids at 3:03
@JPJ3122 ya, like omars pedals are rediculo0use, went to see them live...didnt even sound like a guitar half the time lol
@rob5000x1 yeah, you're right on that!

Cuz they don't only do the same chops
Please, go ahead :)
@RELeviathan Well he's not in the band anymore.
Is there a live performance not filmed by someone on speed?
Breakdown at 4:50 is fucking SO EPIC
much better than studio version
no words.
(it's called ouroborOs)
@Asciipanda he makes the band.
Check out the band "Audiobakery". They're good :)
Hello nick
@johnnycakes2k Great :)
@ElJefeUltimo no one can he is the new god of thunder like nick mason, john bonham, and ginger baker before him
Depends on the show.
What cymbal is Pridgen using since the begining of the song??
+Lucas Palavecino I'm guessing you mean the one that doesn't sound too generic. Sounds like a stack of a china and cymbal. Maybe china and crash on the top.
Its a china crash stack ma dewd.

He sounds sick here idk what u mean
@BasketClash thats truth, its one of the things that i dont like of TMV, all the credit is for guitar, voice and drum
@HiPPoKryPtiC i love BTBAM :)
@Parazetamol666 maybe a cyborg D:
@MrBlotterman420 Much better way of thinking, thank you.
@Onamorata roger daltrey
these are proper shamans
@Asciipanda Man, I'd sell your soul to be as good as Omar.
@Asciipanda you can't play like Thomas Pridgen without soul... :)
Why are half of the fans middle-aged hispanic women dancing like they're at a Nora Jones concert?
@rtfrancis2002 Pridgen lacks control
Alex Berube HAHA WHAT?! Opinions aside that is just flat out wrong. I'm assuming you aren't a drummer..

@rtfrancis2002 Pridgen is balls.
@HiPPoKryPtiC LOL!!
ppfffffffff AHAHAAHAHHAHAHAH!!

@tylercanopy Yeah I love Parks better too.
Hey this is Yahoo. Take this down. We know it isn't yours. Thank you.

CEDRIC NEEDS TO PRACTICE!!!
Todo lo demás es menos
Nobody hit harder than Thomas Pridgen❤
y por eso omar es malo?
lol
sick.. this music is not from planet earth..

He’s very talented, but it’s more of a “ wow look at him go” Jon Theodore the old drummer brought so much soul to their songs and performances.
I noticed the crowd had a hard time moving to that "MUSIC " - looked more like Parkinsons disease.
and John Petrucci is beyond him
why the hell does Cedric always use this shitty effect on his voice...
@jandkolepsycho He sounds pretty terrible all the time live. He's great in the studio, he's awful live, off key all the time.
3:14
look at that smug bastards face
Jokes on you. Omar doesn't even consider himself a 'proper musician'.
@rob5000x1 No metal band is better than BTBAM, least of all shitty fucking
Acacia strain.
i dont like the music
Wtf is this, nice technical but the frontman has a terrible voice
Sapior Kal'el Not that he needs my defence but I'm going to guess he has more albums and a greater following out there than say: you?
