    Alright, so the comparison has been made more than enough. This video does have some similar takes to one made by Jessie Tribble's.
    If you haven't seen his video, I highly suggest checking it out.
    He made some excellent points--- some of which I never even thought of.
    I did not see Jessie's video or know of his channel before my comment section made the comparison.
    I have since watched and even subscribed to him.
    I did not copy his video... upon watching the two you can see we don't see eye to eye on everything.
    A lot of work goes into these videos... so being "called out" for "ripping (Jessie) off" is kind of a slap in the face after rewatching the show's last 4 seasons, taking notes, scripting the video, recording audio, and then finally editing this together for 4 days.
    I would not copy another creator's work--- I try to bring my own perspective and shitty jokes to everything I create.

      I doubt anyone - other than those lacking the depth of character required to simply provide objective and honest feedback - would truly believe that your videos are created using anything other than (software etc. excluded) your own opinions, observations, research, time, effort, and care. @@syntheticracoon I - personally - have a little bit of difficulty believing that someone who's already been established within the TH-cam community - who's passion and efforts, for and towards their craft, have resulted thus far in a subscriber volumel of a little over 130K, and a general viewership of millions - would so carelessly debase both their brand and themselves, insult the intelligence of their viewers/subscribers, piss off their peers, risk their channel's future, and invite various other piles of shit onto their dinner plates, just to take credit for someone else's exertions...
      And then expect to get away with it ...
      And then - just to be fuckticulous ridiculous - go ahead and take that perilous pursuit of plagiarism onto even riskier terrain by using the same fucking title as that which was allegedly ripped off.
      Just my opinion.

      They doubled down on the Pam-Jim fiasco. They must have had a lot of fan mail hate, because in the finale, Pam is questioned by all the women in the audience at why she would be such a horrible wife to a perfect husband like Jim. And what does Pam do? She trashes Jim, while on stage and insinuates there were things he did when the cameras weren't on. What a trash show this ended up becoming.

Also Dwight was meant to not really understand people which he still didn’t really know when he was finding Michael annoying

    • @michaelahurt
      @michaelahurt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think the relationship is a red herring. Obviously people will prefer one or the other but I think it's more about the character. Dwight did more than smarten up -- he became a entirely different person.
      People become guarded, deliberate, bitter -- all that is fine -- but how often have you seen an adult who couldn't read basic social cues turn themselves into a person who could manipulate others? The very fact that you're socially inept precludes you from even knowing that it's a problem to fix. It's just not realistic. For a lot of people it breaks the suspension of disbelief. Especially when you're binging it.

I loved her, but not putting her with Andy and throwing her to a bunch of guys in the office was just disappointing. Also, Andy on paper would probably be my favorite character, but they make him an absolute psycho and just overall obnoxious jerk. He had his true Andy moments and you can tell when it's really him, but they made him so unlikable. And for the two together, I'm a little upset they didn't end up with each other. Erin was a very happy person despite her extremely sad childhood, and Andy was a very happy person despite his anger issues and how people treated him. I always thought he never saw Michael as a genius. He just thought Michael was great because he's the Regional Manager. If you remember the time Dwight snuck on Michael's back to talk with Jan about a possible promotion? He immediately turned on Michael when he got the (fake) news that he would replace Michael.
      Also, the time when Michael is getting roasted, Dwight said, "Don't you ever talk to me that way you short, pathetic, little man. You don't have any friends, or any family, or any land." then he laughed extremely hard when Pam said that, "Michael is a great delegator. He never does the work himself ever."
      Bottom line, I think Dwight knows how incompetent Michael is and is just being a responsible employee.

Just close enough to be able to make an attempt, but one little wrong word or preconceived idea would derail the whole thing. I know the writers were recreating what they had with Pam and Jim, with the tension of waiting and waiting for them to get together, but abandoned them at some point. Ellie Kemper and Ed Hearns are remarkable performers and wished they had a better storyline.

    Even though Jim & Pam wouldn't have cheated on each other, there was still potential for good drama there. Imagine Jim confronting Brian about his feelings or Pam confronting Cathy for making her move. But no. These storylines went nowhere. That's what bugged me about them. • @tik5150_
      @tik5150_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I don't think Cathy and Brian were meant to be "storylines" because instead they simply represented tension or conflict in the overall storyline of Jim and Pam's relationship. We lost the ability to root for Jim and Pam getting together after they became married, so it makes sense if the writers wanted to bring some of that feeling back in the final season. It was like the writers saying "Remember how emotionally invested you became in the relationship between these two characters? Remember how that used to be a major part of our show's appeal?" So they set up some conflict (Cathy, Brian, Jim's new job, etc.), then later give us the payoff (Jim and Pam's dedication to each other, reminding the audience why we become so emotionally invested in them in the first place).

      However, the decline of Andrew Bernard's character was done over multiple episodes and was in my opinion like slowly ripping off a bandaid, while Jamie's was like just getting kicked in the face and your jaw broken, if that makes sense....

    The reason Plop and Erin are disliked so much was because they destroyed Andy’s character for them. First I thought he was a brother to Erin but It felt forced. Later on I found out his actually trying to win Erin and took advantage of Andy's depression and manipulate Erin which made me hate him even more. Also his face is cringy, his voice, and his very presence. Plop is Toby but without the comedy timing. Plop is just there unlike Creed which makes Creed iconic, funny, and mysterious. Plop just makes me want to punch him in the face and shoot him twice if I had a bullet and had to choose who to kill if I could kill Hitler, and Bin Laden.

Check out -Sex, Lies, and Videotape-, and -Secretary- there’s more, those just stand out as examples of the kind of characters he does. (To my knowledge anyway)
      Besides that, we saw managers in this show as largely useless didn’t we? As in, mostly, but not completely. He brought a different weird vibe and a bit of philosophy. Not nearly as hard to take as Nellie, she was such a brief blip as a manager.

    I think the show had three stages of decline. First was right after the Michael Scott Paper Company ark came to a close. This is when things started going downhill. Once Saber came in, it accelerated the decline. Then Michael leaving was then nail in the coffin. Things like Pam becoming a salesman and the entrance of Erin seemed odd. I think the biggest loss of the later seasons was Dwight loosing his devotion for Micheal. They had such a funny yet genuine chemistry that once it was over, made Dwight just seem mean. I can't say anything about the last two seasons, since I've only watched them once, over a year ago. The golden ages of the show were seasons 2-5, and everything after was just a shell of the shows former self.

    I stop binge watching when Michael leaves. For me the show ends there, and there rest is a absolutely waste of time. I genuely dislike everything after Michael. The romances, the bosses. They ruined Dwight mytical figure and his surroundings, showing his family.

    The Office never died because even when it was bad, it was still better than the majority of other comedies.
    Season 8 is a difficult watch because Andy is written as a bad version of Michael Scott, however, Robert California is a true gem and the Florida arc is actually a highlight of the entire series run.
    Season 9 is a lowest point for me. There was mileage to be had for Jim suddenly deciding he wanted more from his work and Pam wanting everything to stay the same. Jim had never really saw himself staying at DM for most of his career and only stuck around for Pam. Then they got married, had a couple of kids... you can totally buy that once those stopped being these massive things in his life, he would take a look around and be motivated to get a better job. But the way it was written was fairly terrible, for example, Jim, the guy who is chronically non-confrontational, blows up at Pam over the phone, making her cry... it didn't ring true for either of the characters and felt absolutely forced.
    My biggest criticism of the show (which I absolutely 100% love, by the way) is that it leaned in to the framing concept of it being a documentary too much. It meant that characters would disappear (Cathy is the biggest example here) and storylines would just end (like Jan / Michael after "Dinner Party") because if those characters weren't involved in the Office, they weren't in the show. Parks and Recreation started with the same fly-on-the-wall documentary style but leans out of that concept, using it purely as a style rather than making it a fundamental part of the show.
    I do have one criticism of your video: I don't agree with your view on Michael/Dwight. Dwight absolutely worships Michael in the beginning but you can see their relationship breakdown. Its written into the show, coming to a head when Michael doesn't recommend Dwight for his job. That's when Dwight goes from seeing them as genuine friends to looking down on Michael for "not having any land".
    Still, great video.

    I think im the only one that liked jim and pam having problems. But I liked it bc of the result. Personally, I fell in love with them. It was what hooked me to the show. So after they got married it felt stale. But then this happened and I was really invested. And boy, when they hugged and said "I love you" at the same tine, dude, I started crying like never before. And no show has ever made me feel that. So I appreciate that arc.

      For me, having Jim and Pam have marital problems is a good closing arc for them, a way of showing they can withstand anything (even if this was set up in Season 6 with the divorce of Pam’s parents). But it just drags on for far too long. The climax for me should have been their phone argument. Pam should have NEVER doubted that Jim loved her and NEVER indulged in a guy she barely knows. That took it too far. The arc should have ended a lot sooner, similar to the Leslie and Ron feud towards the end of Parks and Rec.

    Whenever I rewatch, I watch until Goodbye Michael, then skip ahead to the last few eps of the show. I wish Deangelo never happened, and that the ending how they had it was pushed forward (minus evil Andy) I kinda wish the whole Jim athlead thing was condensed into a few episodes instead of a long time bc it ruined their relationship. I wish that they had the Michael finale, last 3 eps like they did in season 9, and finished out the show on a high note.
