Especially now that AI chatbots and other services are about to train wreck the education system, it is imperative that the philosophy of learning be the goal in school rather than the memorization of raw knowledge. His statement about getting away from the "magic spells" of math now applies to all primary subjects.

So very well said. I personally did very bad in high school for multiple reasons but one being because schools never told me why I was learning what I was learning. What is the reason behind finding the derivative in Calculus, why do we study literature? The conceptual or philosophical understanding as you say behind all of this makes learning so much more fun!

    Absolutely!
The first step in Mathematics is understanding the problem.
The second step is realising that the paths to the solution are many and varied, as long as these paths are logical.
That is to say, irrespective of the path you choose to follow, as long as it is loglcal, you will arrive at the correct conclusion.
You need not follow the exact recipe your Maths teacher uses.

Terry tao is so true what he say about mathematics. This is way, so many people have difficulties in mathematics. The mathematics teachers and instructors do not taught the concept of mathematics. Me, i explained to my cousin Jessica ; mathematics without using equations, just concepts of mathematics. She completely understand what i means.

Actually, I don't blame People who say that math is a sorcery, that is because they were taught maths as formulas we use to solve problems. But if they were taught math in the correct way, which alignes with understanding why do we solve those problem, and why we use this formula and not the other one.... To understand math very well you should have a map in your mind of it's Branches, so when someone asks why we did this, you respond because this is related to another thing that affects our thing..... PEACE Math is really something.

Sadly a very common pattern in todays educations system is just hammering some formulas or other recipes into your head until you can replicate that exact same thing just with different numbers. Only very few great teachers make the effort to go out of their way to actually show how things work and why we use those things.
It only really starts getting better at a university level (excluding choosing to specifically study math) where now you have a ton more formulas but you start to be taught more in depth knowledge.
