In grade school, all we learned about Squanto was that he taught the pilgrims to use dried fish as fertilizer for growing corn.

@@uncommon-commonsense My teachers were average. I think we didn't read it in a textbook but in mimeographed handouts. (I'm so old my early schooling actually preceded the widespread use of Xerox machines! 😀) That was the most interesting fact to me about the story of Squanto.

It wasn't 19 native Indians from The Patuxet Tribe. It was 27 Indians. Also, The Patuxet Tribe was already part of The Wampanoag Clan that neighbored The Narragensett Clan. Basically all American Indian Tribes had Clans. They weren't called confederations. Of course, North America was largely populated by Protestants from the time King James I persecuted Protestants (Pilgrims) after King James I (VI) became sympathetic towards Catholics and their cause after Catholics tried to assassinate King James I (VI) during The Gunpowder Plot (Guy Fawkes Day). That was the time when Sir Edward Coke came to the defense of Protestants before introducing The Petition of Rights (1628) that later became The Parliament Bill of Rights (1689) honored by The Magna Carta (12th Century) after The Glorious Revolution of 1688 that followed The English Civil War and The 30 Years' War. Of course, King James I succeeded to the throne on March 24th, 1603, the day Queen Elizabeth I died, & King James I was the son of Queen Mary, Queen of The Scots, who was the rival of Queen Elizabeth I who succeeded to the throne after Queen Mary I. Queen Elizabeth I and her father's Church of England that Queen Mary I didn't like who executed a whole mess load of Protestants. Of course, Queen Mary I was Catholic like her mother, Queen Catherine of Aragon whose marriage to King Henry VIII's brother, Prince Arthur Tudor, was an arranged marriage through The Treaty of Medina Del Campo 1489. Prince Arthur Tudor married Catherine on The 14th of November, 1501 after they met for the first time on November 4th, 1501. Prince Arthur Tudor later died on April 2nd, 1502 before The Treat of Medina del Campo was rewritten in 1505 to included the marriage of King Henry VIII (Henry Tudor) and Catherine of Aragon (Catholic). Of course, King Henry VIII was later officially excommunicated from The Roman Catholic Church when he went against Pope Clement VII's letter refusing to nullify King Henry VIII's marriage to Queen Catherine of Aragon. Of course, all that history is why there were so few Catholics in 1776 - "Roman Catholicism in the United States & Canada" - Encyclopedia Britannica. Encyclopedia dot Com state the same. Academia dot Edu in their consensus of articles state 25,000 to 35,000 Catholics. The PEW Research Center state 5% in 1910 according to their graphs past to present. Knights dot Net state 40,000 Catholics in 1776 out of 2.5 million people. Of course, most people don't realize that there were so few Catholics in The United States that my direct ancestors had a huge hand in establishing. Of course, history has a way of tying itself all together in making a lot of sense even as complicated as history is.

There is zero DNA evidence truth to that. All ancient American bones have only the A.B,C,D,X hapologroups which belong 2 Paleo Indians. No other ethnic ppl have any DNA evidence of being here, just the ancestors of N.A.s
