    I found that the best mount for me is the stuntman shoulder mount and the magnetic plate mount with the gopro attached to it. I feel like with the chest mounts your hands get in the way so much especially after a hook set. I use the linear lens with horizon leveling on the Hero 10 Black...Horizon leveling is a game changer for sure. It keeps the horizon level and has a 45 degree give on either side so as you're moving around the footage stays steady.

    🌴 Hey bro , this the first and best explanation of camera and audio video I’ve seen, I’ve thought about posting vids but still trying to figure things out and how I want to go about it yet , getting a go pro ten might not be in my budget yet as I’m just starting to do a nano skiff build , so purchasing stuff is on tight as I just bought the boat, trailer and motor and they all need work , but getting a camera to film the process could be my very beginning of everything , I’ve acquired some stuff like a go pro chest strap , and a lavaliere mike set up with two microphones from a discount store , the boat I’m converting is only 11’ so having a camera on the aft section to the bow is a short distance, your explanation and excellent coverage on this is a true incentive but there is other parts to making vids the editing, what app do you use, and people that make vids always complain about having to spend a lot of time editing, and then there’s dealing with you tube and what you can and can’t say or do and then there’s adding music and copy infringement so there’s a lot of stuff that people don’t see when getting involved in making videos, and then how do you get paid ?💵💵💵💵 do they send you a check or is it direct deposit? So many questions! Thanks for posting this vid was a great help !

    Again Tyler, your video is excellent and very informative. I am an amateur fisherman who doesn't know very much about fishing. What I would like to see and if you already have videos on it please let me know where to find them, is when you use weights when worm fishing and what size weights and the effect of the different size weights on the bait. I know that bigger weights make it fall faster but when do you want it to fall faster and when do you want your worm to sink slower. Which is better nail wait or bullet weights on the front of your line and should I use Stoppers to keep the weights in place. I know that's a lot to cover but I don't know. Your videos seem to be the most informative because you thoroughly cover subject matter.

    Some other things I've learned just getting started.
    - At least 2 cameras help a ton if you want to make a video remotely interesting to watch. Switching in between definitely helps engagement.
    - Horizon Leveling (Hero 9+) helps with small boats that rock a lot as you walk around. It does crop the view a bit, however. It helps for times like 15:33 .
    - I haven't graduated up to a wireless lav mic, but there is a decent solution to use a fixed external mic on a gopro external case that works pretty well for me. Gopro isn't waterproof anymore, however.

    Have you ever tried to use an external mic with external power. I’ve seen searching for hours to find some clarity but it seems like a lot of people have issues. I have a hero 8 black and a Bluetooth mic kit. I would need either the pro adapter or the media mod to use the mic, but the external power apparently crashes or bugs out the go pro, so takes away the mic feature availability.

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plenty. But then you run the risk of the audio not sounding good because the hardware is less quality, or the audio corrupting, because the device is not built well. When you buy camera gear, you usually get what you pay for

  • @HookAndTrigger
    @HookAndTrigger 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    For instance, in this video (since it's showing as 24p) would you just import all your 60p gopro videos in and speed them up to match 24p?

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, I see where you’re going, but you don’t seem to have a good enough understanding of how frame rate actually works. I talk about that in the editing video I think, and If not, TH-cam it.
      For a simple explanation: frame rates are all measured in rate/second. So you could drag a 1,000,000FPS video into a 24fps editing timeline, and it would play in real speed. But the higher your frame rate in the camera is, the more you can slow it down in the timeline. So in a 30fps timeline, you can slow a 60fps clip to 50% speed. In a 30fps timeline you can slow a 120fps clip to 25% speed. And so on. Hope that helps

    Fantastic video!! I got a camera the past month and I plan to make fishing videos this spring and summer. This was so helpful for me in figuring out everything I need. I don't have a GoPro; however, I have a camera that is a knock off brand but is still good. Is it worth the risk to not have the waterproof case on to get better audio if it is on my chest mount? A drip or two wouldn't break it I would think. What would you suggest?

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, a drip or two won’t hurt it. But wind will hurt your audio tremendously

      @@TylersReelFishing Yeah, that makes sense. Will the waterproof case change the effect of the wind significantly?

    • @TylersReelFishing

      Any GoPro before the 6 I believe is not waterproof without the big plastic case. If you put it in it’s waterproof case, the audio will just get worse on every front possible. Almost unusable. I would recommend getting one of the newer action cameras that is waterproof out of the box and does not need an additional case.

      I think it’s Manfrotto, but I’m not sure. I use a different system now.

      @TylersReelFishing Yes, I had watched that one. I was talking about when you caught the big ones last year there. Was wondering if it worked out this time.

      The audio advice is helpful. I'm a major tech noob so I needed to know that stuff. My GoPro 9 by coincidence is set just like you described. I'll probably watch this twice cause it's like drinking from a firehose for my chicken brain

      @@TylersReelFishing do you know much for the yolotek external battery? The link for the external you use isn't in the description. The yolotek is 75 bucks and if it's worth it I'll pull the trigger on it. I got a gopro 8 black and it kills my batteries

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, Apple video format doesn’t jive very well with PC editing products which I use, so I try to use my phone as little as possible. If I edited on Mac, I would use it more

    Tyler, do you use CPL or ND filters on your
    GoPro?
    If so, pros? Cons? Situations where you use one vs the other?

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have used a polarizer, and it works great! I just like to have less things in front of my lens if possible, and haven’t found many situations that it would have helped the audience see in the water better

    since you are using a digital audio recorder, does that mean that you have a separate audio media that you have to upload from your digital audio recorder to the editing software?
