Ganondorf doesn’t beat characters. Ganondorf beats players. It doesn’t matter if Ganondorf has a -2 matchup against your character if he’s got the +3 matchup against your mental state.
Your character may be number one, but at the end of the day Ganondorf is one of the worst characters to fight when you lose your composure. Seeing how Era reacted to his first stock loss made it obvious Major had the mental edge.
Major just picked some great options in a scramble. It was really impressive. His wiz kick off of the anvil later in the game was so unexpected. The confidence to stand and hold that up smash was what really got in Eras head. Great show!

Like you see some moves where Nintendo has so clearly over engineered the 3-D nature of the characters in relation to the hit boxes, where certain moves can pass through the legs of a character doing a taunt animation. And yet a pic swinging down which you think “the point of the pick is what delivers the damage” seems to smash out 3 feet in front of itself. And it’s like “oh OK Steve moment”
