@Geoffrey Zoref What's sad though? You're actually serious. This was a television show. They're allowed to be funny. Obviously they would never say that to the real president. Duh. What's wrong with you? You must be a Republican, because you have ZERO sense of humor, dood. Get over yourself already. And shut up. "It's an irresponsible thing to say to the president." Very Horatio Cain-esq at the end of part 1; "The president doesn't hold a grudge.(put sunglasses on); that's what he pays ME for." Almost expected the CSI Miami theme to play after that. Yes, I am aware that this was before CSI Miami.
I've loved this show since I first saw an episode. Why? Great plot, brilliant lines and a very human cast. The last clip really captures how human they are.
The scene from 2:10 to 2:45 is probably my favorite TV moment ever. Josh is such an amazing human at that moment, and you know he's sincere and not just trying to be a good guy, which makes him even more the good guy. Thanks for posting these great bits!

Considering whose name? Martin Sheen, fka Ramon Estevez? His character, Josiah Bartlet? The Joshua Tree might have "piqued" an interest considering Joshua Lyman's name.
Josh also had a much better argument back to Donna on the surplus. No one can predict exactly what kind of emergencies might come up in the future. Just because we collected more tax revenue than needed doesn’t mean that we won’t need the money later. If an emergency comes up and we only have as much money as we planned to spend, wed be fucked. It’s not always a bad thing to run either a surplus or a deficit
