The Trinity is: Shut your mouth and open your eyes, Black Sails in the Sunset and Art of Drowning. Shut your Mouth is in their top 2, swapping positions with Black Sails depending on the day
2003 was the pinnacle of AFIs live show that they’d been perfecting since the mid 90s. By 99 they were in top form and only had to crack the mainstream on their own terms.. 2003 was that year.
What boggles my mind is how nearly an hour into the show and near end to the set they play death or seasons and the vast majority of that song is pure is screams and davey freakin crushes it as usual. But again to scream that nuts after a prolong period is beyond me. 99-06 afi imo was a different thing. I’m 22 and I didn’t get to see this era like everyone else got to but it I could hop in a time machine to see any band it would be afi during that timeframe.

My favorite band of all time.. I'm seeing people saying this is their best show ever, best performance, setlist etc. This is fkn great and all, but If you guys wna see a crazy af, pure emotion driven, in their prime, AFI in their rawest most real form, with a bit of chaos thrown in, look up, AFI Live from Showcase Theatre in Corona, Ca. 1999.. if you're a true AFI fan you'll fkng eat it up.
God bless and God bless and keep up the good work. Amen. God bless and keep the family real and keep it honest and keep it honest and keep it real. Amen. God bless and bless AFI. Amen.

Saw this tour in Columbus. Was a great performance and set list. He dove headfirst into the crowd at the beginning of the first song (same here but the camera man missed it) His screaming was perfectly pitched, the intro, Death of Seasons.. Imo it was down hill from here. Late 90s - 2000s was the greatest thing for me as a teenager seeing my favorite band at the time so many times in so many cool places.
I feel sad I couldn't see them live at that time. They've come to Argentina, for the first time, a few days ago and it was awesome. But this was their gold era IMO, this sure was one of the best shows ever. However, they still own and they're trully marvelous.
I saw them play it in Manchester on the same tour. I was 15 then and it was my first real gig, I was obsessed with that song and I was amazed that they played it. Will never forget that moment.
I remember this night fondly. It's a shame the camera was focused on Hunter at the beginning and totally missed Davey flying off stage and disappearing into the crowd though.
07:16 such an epic moment! I'm pretty sure (and it's probably well documented somewhere) that Davey was dealing with some personal stuff back in the day and the stage was his outlet. Just so much energy holy fuck! Wonder how he took off those leather pants after the show LEL.
This would’ve been my first show on this same tour but Dave ended up getting sick and the cancelled the Florida show. I was only 14 I was so bummed. Wouldn’t end up seeing them till I was 21 in Chicago but that was a total different band. They played two or three old songs so that was ok. All I have to say is I am grateful you posted this vid up now I finally know what a gem I missed out on. Fuck seafood allergies... you killed my chance to see AFI in their prime two hours befor the show went down.
Pretty sure my older brother also missed this AFI show in Orlando lol. He's been a fan for 20+ years and only got to see them once.. I'll be seeing them in December god willing.
What's really the difference between somebody recording on an iPhone or digital camera? The whole "living in the moment" bullshit needs to be put to rest. The person recording this wasn't "living in the moment" and we are now able to enjoy this video they caught. Living in the moment is fine and all, but revisiting the moment can be just as magical.
@@Kajwixi Yeah man, don't bother trying to argue with nolstalgia-tards. They'll say anything to avoid facing the fact that they're just not as happy as they used to be, including "phones are ruining gigs" etc etc etc
Literally the only way you’re even able to watch this video and make this dumbass comment is because someone, thankfully, wasn’t “living in the moment” and recorded this on a camera. Do clowns like you even hear yourselves? 😂🤣

the fact that this was 2003 the quality is amazing
Watching this era of live shows is so great, people 100% engaged in what is going on with the band & music, and not burried in their damn phones
Fucking golden years of AFI. Black Sails, Art of Drowning, Sing the Sorrow... unholy trinity right there! Forever thankful for the music \m/
The Trinity is: Shut your mouth and open your eyes, Black Sails in the Sunset and Art of Drowning.
Shut your Mouth is in their top 2, swapping positions with Black Sails depending on the day
@@Robspiffery Agreed. Though Sing the Sorrow sure grew on me over the years

Totally agree, if you got the chance to see them in '03 it was truly the best.
And it's what killed them...... aing the sorrow got them paid, which we all get.... but before that, is why we talk about them 20+ years later
What boggles my mind is how nearly an hour into the show and near end to the set they play death or seasons and the vast majority of that song is pure is screams and davey freakin crushes it as usual. I grew up going to and playing at the Showcase. Sucks it closed down.
Absolutely, that one is great. Also Robbs metalworks 2000 on here
Agreed that show is insane.
Why do I feel so nostalgic about this? I had no idea who AFI were back in 2003.
Saw this tour in Reno NV and this sounds and looks almost identical to the show I saw. Very fond memories of this era. Peak AFI right here
Lawlor Events Center 12/12/2003. I was there too. It was life changing.
God bless and God bless and keep up the good work. Amen. God bless and keep the family real and keep it honest and keep it honest and keep it real. Amen. God bless and bless AFI. Amen.
This is absolutely fucking incredible

God i miss the old, good AFI - This gave me constant chills...

If I had the chance to go back to one concert that ever happened, this would be the one. AFI on top form!
I feel sad I couldn't see them live at that time. They've come to Argentina, for the first time, a few days ago and it was awesome. But this was their gold era IMO, this sure was one of the best shows ever. However, they still own and they're trully marvelous.
I feel the same way, they're still really good but these times seemed otherworldly/magical.
They were.
God bless and keep the music good and love. Amen.
God bless and keep the world real and keep the world cool and keep the world real and keep the world cool. Amen.
One can only hope that AFI has another one or two of these epic shows left in them. This is perfect.
I could drum these songs for the rest of my life and die happy
God give my family radio and love. Amen.
Does anyone else remember that this was the ONLY concert they ever played This Cellunoid dream up until 2017? Because I remember
Homeless slowbro didnt they also play this warped tour 2003?
I saw them play it in Manchester on the same tour. I was 15 then and it was my first real gig, I was obsessed with that song and I was amazed that they played it. Will never forget that moment.
It’s a shame, because that’s a great song.
That's my favorite AFI song
Dude, this is just wrong. They played it quite a bit on their second stretch in 2003.
I would give a lot to be able to travel back through time and space and be at this show. Best setlist.
What a great show. I wasn't there but it brought great memories of my first AFI show which was just after this one. 10.30.03. Good times. :)
I was at that show @ the Universal Amp. Such a good one!
I was at this show. In the pit. What a show. 🤘
I remember this night fondly. It's a shame the camera was focused on Hunter at the beginning and totally missed Davey flying off stage and disappearing into the crowd though.
thank you for this comment! I was always curious why the crowd went crazy at that part!
Yeah, what the hell was the camera person doing?! That running somersault into the crowd was amazing!!!!

Great show, great set list, peak Davey. I want to be at this show, amazing energy
saw them in Austin on this tour. Branden of Bleeding Through came out during Death of Seasons. probably the best AFI show I've even seen. still.
Bring back Jacked Long haired Danzig Davey 🤘🤘🤘🤘
This is their greatest performance
Holy hell! Since first time i've listened Miseria Cantare (in 2006), i wish there was that long scream (1:18). Now my dream come true! Flawless.
dude the screams in this version.. so good.. i listen over and over
He killed this shit. I swear I wish I was here to witness it live
07:16 such an epic moment! I'm pretty sure (and it's probably well documented somewhere) that Davey was dealing with some personal stuff back in the day and the stage was his outlet. Just so much energy holy fuck! Wonder how he took off those leather pants after the show LEL.
not leather ;) he doesn't wear leather pants
Vinyl
I saw them live around that time because my gf was into them. Not really my thing, but they could definitely play.
I think this is the best AFI's concert ever =')

Amazing live video 🫶

not one stupid cellphone in the crowd, thank 2003 for living in the moment
But luckily someone had a camera!

They ever play Wester back in them days? All the concerts I've seen on TH-cam, never seen that song in the set.
Holy shit this is so epic
58:28 This is why I love Davey
I’m this stage presence from Davey
