    The person who bought Toto said he was a "bad investment"....even a novice rider knows that different riders produce different results with the same horse. Toto+Gal combination is simply magical and nothing can beat this...he just floats so gracefully, wish we could see more performances like this.

    I see people make comparisons between this horse and Valegro all the time, and this horse definitely looks way more over bent but he is also a completely different stamp to Valegro. Valegro has entirely different conformation, this horse is very short, especially his neck, it can give an entirely different effect

    • @synnesilentweb
      @synnesilentweb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Kezra I compare the quietness of their tails...Valegro’s tail is still when he’s working whereas Totilas’ is flicking in every direction. I’m not an expert but that’s my observation! :)

    People keep saying this is rollkur, but I disagree. Even in Totilas' freewalk, he doesn't stretch much because he has a short neck. When he is in his collected frame, that's the expected roundness of his neck. He's on the bit and not behind the vertical. He does the movements correctly and that's why he was amazing. People view Valegro as a better horse than him simply because to the eye, Valegro's Grand Prix frame and conformation are both nicer. Totilas brought what he could to the table and I think Gal did I good job with him. I personally hate the way Totilas moves because of his conformation. I don't like how short his neck is, but it's all he has.

      Emma Jacobs I agree that this isn't rollkur. He really has a short neck so it might look unproportional to the viewers. Nevertheless i never liked watching him because i think the way he was ridden was just awful. Everyone loved totilas just because his front legs went to the ceiling when he moved, but there was no activity on the backhand (i don't know if it it's called like this in english, in Germany it is, so sorry of it's not). There are also enough videos online where you can see that totilas is ridden in rollkur, so i can really understand this 'anti-totilas fraction'...

      I think you are absolutely right!

    • @TheHorsehouse99
      @TheHorsehouse99 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      True, very few times he's behind the vertical. What bothers me is that you see mostly no contraction in his back and stomach, wich results in an inactive hindleg. So he might seem collected when looking at his neck, but his body is telling a different story. Isabell Werth has the same 'problems' with her horses. If you compare the piaffe of Totilas and Weihegold with the one of Valegro you can clearly see that the latter really steps under his center (real collection). I am not a fan of the 'big sport' but there are some, such as Charlotte or Ingrid Klimke, that do ride their horses well and most of the time in a nice and healthy collection/frame. We just need some judges that can tell a truly good and healthy movement from flying legs and high necks.

    people just envy this rider. he´s an example of one of the best riders. he made this horse, he took this horse to the next level. Some people that are writing stupid comments like: poor horse, in rollkur and etc. they should look at themselves before commenting on others.

    Got to Charlotte Dujardin with her horses, and you’ll see that the necks are at the same angle, with Totilas’s just a bit rounder, because he has a short neck. It’s completely natural with no Rollkur.

    I am only recently learning about dressage and Totilas appeared in my feed.
    I watch these videos repeatedly as these tests are stunning.
    Trying to understand the rollkur controversy that may apply to this horse.
    Sad that he was sold. Watching videos with Rath as rider, it seems Totilas never enjoyed Rath as his rider and was heartbroken. Horses are not machines after all.

  • @meaghanenglish5210
    @meaghanenglish5210 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Okay, let me get one thing clear. Totilas is a warm blood, and his neck is short. He is not wearing a bearing rein, and there is not a Rollkur. Edward Gal is shortening the reins, but there is not a Rollkur. He is just arching his neck. Watch carefully and compare it t pictures of horses with Rollkur sandy you’ll see the difference.

    I have heard this horse was trained by Rollkur and I think that is horrible. But he must be an exceptional horse because he doesn't actually look annoyed in this video at all and moves quite freely. Imagine a horse like this what he could be if trained with humane methods! But just looking at this video I don't see the signs of poor training. Those I had to find out through other outlets. I think when people think he looks annoyed it's because they know the backstory because in reality the horse is not showing the typical signs of angst here that annoyed horses show. Even his passage is less tense than many I've seen. The only telltale sign I see of rollkur is during the free walk he has a hard time stretching and really holding the stretch - which could be many reasons but since I know he was trained with rollkur it makes sense for that reason.

    • @Eliesjuh123
      @Eliesjuh123 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Actually, Edward never used the Rollkur when training Totilas or any of his horses.

    Странная, непрофессиональная съёмка. Абсолютно искажён экстерьер Тотиласа. Сплющенный, укороченный корпус. Шея кажется короткой, а это совсем не так. На качественной съёмке прекрасно виден экстеръер. По завершении фристайла Гал отдаёт повод, и Тотилас сразу расслабляется, вытягивая шею. Она у него длинная, с высоким поставом. Непонятно, зачем сняли так, что Эдвард выглядит нелепо долговязым. У Тотиласа прекрасный экстеръер, идеальные, гибкие ноги, великолепные движения.

      I have worked with horses that have been trained with roll kur they have no relaxation in the neck they are tense and do not give well to the rider as the commentators said his exaggerated movements were not tense this horse has quite a thick neck for a dressage horse so it appears that he is being ridden/trained in that style,but when they went into extended walk did you not see how relaxed he was? Another note is that he had so much engagement of his back legs with roll kur the horse does not have that much flexion he does not show the signs like you say he does.

    • @callanlittrell292

      If any of the judges that had ever judged their dressage tests thought Edward was using rollkur in his training, they would have been able to see that in their tests. These dressage judges are thoroughly trained to know what to look for & if any thought something was wrong, they would have taken it to the board & council (yes, we have those). He's a horse that has a big crest & even though he WAS trained in rollkur, he was not during the time that Edward rode him. It takes an unimaginable amount of time to untrain horses from that & Edward is an amazing rider.

You are in the dressage circles and indeed know about how Gal rides his horses?Wel obviousely you are not and talking out of your a**** otherwise you would know that Gal is actually quite renowned for his easy Hands. • @ObersDressageHorses
      @ObersDressageHorses 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheHaxorusGirl that's not true!! Edward even said in an interview that he didn't go in the fields because he constantly got injured cause of him getting wacko (more horses especially stallions have this problem). BUT never the less he got out for a walk and eating grass 4 times a day for an hour or so. I don't call that animal abuse I call that taking incredibly good care of a horse. If they know such things happen on the field, why let him get injured and be in pain for no reason. Great wellfare at Edward's stables I would say.
