In early 2023 I was in the market. Choice was between burquitlam and Brentwood. Brentwood has the mall. We all love it. It's great. But once you get out of that mall it's a sea of industrial wasteland and single family homes. The area is also flat. Burquitlam has amazing natural environment but no fancy mall and plaza space yet. That will change with the new lougheed developments and burquitlam plaza and cariboo centre developments. The latter will add plaza space. The towers coming up along North Road will all add commercial space. For example in the next year we're getting trees coffee and pur and simple along Foster avenue and cottonwood in two of the towers that are just finishing. And as you pointed out two different train lines in the area to Brentwood's one. I love Brentwood. It has its advantages. But Burquitlam will catch up with those advantages and on top of that it has things that Brentwood will never have: namely natural beauty. Also, I do think the neighborhoods along burquitlam are more developed. There's Korea Town and North Road. Less industry etc... right now the prices are still at a discount compared to Brentwood.
@@chihchihuang Yeap. I love it. I'm a bit of a dork when it comes to construction projects, so I'm loving all the towers going up. I am a bit frustrated with how slow some of the big projects are moving though. Burquitlam Plaza is the most important project IMO. It will bring the entire area together. Right now there are a lot of gaps between the different towers. We also don't have a proper plaza space. Burquitlam Plaza will change that. The issue is Morguard. They've been messing around for 4 years since they first approached Council and first reading still hasn't been done (I emailed a member of Coquitlam's Council and he expects Morguard to come to Council for first reading in the next few months). We'll see. There are 3-4 other major projects that will be just as revolutionary for the area, but there is no way those will begin before 2028.
Sweet, glad you're loving it! I agree with Burquitlam Plaza. Has so much potential to be an amazing spot. It sounds like you almost have knowledge to run Burquitlam haha
