Brothers from Vanuatu, you make us proud, thank you for showing the world our true Melanesian Way of Life and Culture, the film makers were superb in capturing just a fraction of our way of life and expose it to the world. The actors did not act as the world may think faking the actions but you relived and truly portrayed our everyday way of life.

Amazing! I cannot believe they used locals to act in the film. I saw this film recently and was sure they had used professional actors!

If I was given a choice of watching one last movie before I pass on, it would be Tanna.
It felt as a privilege and like being with family, while living in such a way, that we've lived for hundreds of thousands of years.....since the beginning of time.
I have lived my entire life way up north, in Denmark, Scandinavia, for 52 years now and counting.
Coming from a modern and developed country and watching the Yakel people was actually a deep and highly intimate and close experience, rather than being a distant or remote one.
Why ? Well......You can only see other people's hearts, if you know every corner of your own. We all have one.

"Мне понравилась встреча у вулкана", - "Мне понравилась речь, которую я произнёс в конце" - мальчикам и девочкам нравится разное кино, даже если это фильм, в котором они сами играют:)

I 'met' many of them thanks to the Spanish TV show "Perdidos en la tribu" where 3 Spanish families had to live during 1 month with three tribes, and one of them were the Nakulamene tribe. That was 11 years ago and I can't forget how much I loved Albin and "Mama" (Grandmother in Tanna) and how much I cried when the family left the tribe... I hope they all are safe and fine.

At first I thought that the events take place in a very distant past (thousands of years). Then Captain Cook was mentioned, and I thought the events take place a couple of hundred years ago. But then Queen Elizabeth was mentioned, and I understood these are very recent events. I was even expecting smartphones to show up. Funny how historical time makes no difference with aboriginal tribes.
