  • Weaving on a triangle loom is easy to learn! I will show you how to weave on a triangle loom and share some triangle loom project ideas and shawls I have made using my own hand spun yarn. Then, I'll give an up close demonstration showing how to start a continuous strand project. Finally, after the weaving is complete, we will take the project off the loom and talk about different ways multiple triangles can be combined to make larger squares and rectangles.
    Weaving instructions begin at 5:06

    My best friend has her husband make me a small triloom and a larger one - and she made me a few shawls and I love and wear each of them and always get compliments and I let them know my friend made them for me! When Sandra died two years ago, she had made me my last shawl and she started one for herself. Thank you for reminding how to get started ... and I hope to get back to tri-loom weaving - on the small loom I want to finish making a scarf.

    I hate to waste an inch of my hand spun so I won't use it as a warp on my floor loom. That is the beauty of the Triangle loom- no waste! And as you say- great for chunky fun yarn. I have the adjustable 7' max loom but the shawls shrink down quite a bit after washing and fulling. My favorite tool for the hard part- the endless middle- is/are those steel pieces that support hanging files. You're probably thinking ??? A thing of the past 😄

    Thank you for the close-up view on beginning to weave!! The very first 3-4 steps are the most critical and the most difficult to see how it is done in either book or video form. This is the best most helpful demo. I've seen.

    Love the richness look of your hand spun yarn woven on your tri-loom. I have a Spriggs 7 Foot Adjustable Tri-Loom that comes apart in 3 pieces. I bought the stand that goes with this loom. I, too have mine in storage. I also have an 8 foot tri-loom that comes apart in 11 pieces and I can weave 11 different size triangles if I wish. This loom fits in a wooden box. You just inspired me to pull out my tri looms and use up my hand spun yarns. Your shawls are pretty. Love the way you put together the colors and/or the mixtures of the yarn types. Your video was fun to watch.

    Thank you so much for this video, I have started to make a triangle loom and am so excited to use some of my hand spun yarn on it. Wonderful to end up with a triangular shaped piece of fabric rather than having to cut and sew my woven cloth which is stressful! May even manage a shawl for "capetember". Thank you again I love your Channel. ♡

    The first time i saw you video i was so amazed that i now made my own triloom a few days ago! A small one like yours so that i could practice before making a bigger one.
    I've just finished my second piece but i really have some issues with tension, i still haven't figured out how to keep it consistent + the yarn tends to make an arch towards the center which makes it very hard to weave the last four passes.
    Do you have any advice please? It's quite frustrating 😂
    Thank you so much for this video!!

    Great idea! I love how you weave with a continuous yarn without having to cut the yarn from the ball, this way the waste of precious hand spun yarn is minimised. I was wondering, can this technique also be used in a rectangular loom? Could you make a video on that? I'm a beginner spinner and intermediate crocheter /knitter, definitely a fiber friend! Cheers!

    • @JillianEve
      @JillianEve  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you are weaving on a tri-loom, measure the distance across the top of your loom. Then multiply that by the number of nails across. That will give you an estimate of your loom's yarn requirement. Remember to include more for fringe and fancy edges. Happy weaving! 😁🧶💜

      I weave on a triangle loom with plied yarn because each strand has to be warp and weft. Also, when I pull the yarn through, it can untwist each of the strands it runs over/under. Singles can fall apart. I hope that helps! 🧶💜😄
