"These are the two covenants." So then the two covenants existed in every essential particular in the days of Abraham. Even so they do to-day; for the Scripture says now as well as then, "Cast out the bondwoman and her son." We see then that the two covenants are not matters of time, but of condition. Let no one flatter himself that he can not be under the old covenant, because the time for that is passed. The time for that is passed only in the sense that "the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries." 1Pet.4:3.

I am asked concerning the law in Galatians. What law is the schoolmaster to bring us to Christ? I answer: Both the ceremonial and the moral code of Ten Commandments. 15LtMs, Ms 87, 1900, par. 1

Praise Abba He Showes through His Son That His Character is Not Weak through Him only the flesh! He is Never Changing and, unlike the scribes and Pharisees who teach men “the law” and won’t lift a single finger themselves, Abba teaches us righteousness without a shadow of turning!
For he spake, and it was done ; he commanded, and it stood fast.
The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.
The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord ; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
The Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
    Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waiteth for the Lord : he is our help and our shield.
For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
Let thy mercy, O Lord , be upon us, according as we hope in thee. Psalm 33:9-13,18-22

The first covenant was "imperfect" ? It was bondage... What does that say about the giver?

You mean implied conception of man for God, or impression of God is.

The SACRIFICES of the Jewish dispensation could not make sinners perfect, they only pointed to Christ the true Lamb of God. The PROMISES of God are always perfect. Perhaps the use of the word "imperfect" may have confused the listener. The word "imperfect" was intended only as it applies to the blood of bulls and goats as in Hebrew 9 and 10.

@@finalatonement1844 there aren't different dispensations , that's Jesuit, Scofield Bible theology, (Darby). Israel is the church. God doesn't deal with people unequally, God is no respecter of persons. The covenant is, was, and will always be with Israel, the church, the remnant. it has nothing to do with ethnicity and everything to do with obedience. Some twist Paul's words to the error of lawlessness.

@@JonSmith-fl8vx This topic can challenging to explain. Sorry if I made a confusing comment. From Spirit of Prophecy and the Bible I have found that there are not seven or more dispensations but there are two economies/dispensations. 1) The Mosaic/Jewish/Old Testament and 2) Christian/Gospel /New Testament Dispensation. Dispensation does not relate so much to the promises of God as the ordinances. Sacrificial Offerings vs the Lord’s Supper. I cannot now experience the Mosaic dispensation because it would be a denial of Christ's death and resurrection for my sins. I cannot now go from the image of Christ to the shadows and types of Christ, that would be a denial of Christ. The sermon on this channel entitled "Miller v Darby" explains this in more detail. Again I'm sorry if I made a confusing comment.

As far as I understand, the imperfect covenant, Which I believe in reality was a second Covenant, was made imperfect because of our promises to God. According to that video, it shows that the Covenants were always based on God’s promises to us, those were perfect.

The covenant of man to God at
Mount Sinai is not the Everlasting Covenant. The Everlasting Covenant was to insure the blessings and Agape found in salvation to anyone in the universe. This emence privilege available ONLY by GRACE. A way to recieve the DIVINE presence of GOD abiding in their hearts by the faith of Jesus. The Everlasting Covenant was made in Eternity between God the Father and his only Begotten Son Yeshua. I pray we would all open our hearts to the still small voice. Not just to understand and realize, but to recieve and live freely in the Abiding love of Our God the Father and his only begotten Son Jesus. Father thank you for allowing your Son to come to this planet at risk of Eternal loss. Obedience to the the Law is the transcript of your heart. The love of living in the Law is only possible because of Agape presented in and through Yeshua and of his Father living In Spirit and truth. The Everlasting. Covenant is Divine.
    Amen and Amen.

Bro Nick with all due respect think you need to check out the history and background of Waggoner.
Worked with figures for many years and added means added and not spoken. Waggoner confused the Ceremonial law with the Moral law in Galatians. Galations 3:19 is referring to the ceremonial law which was added because of transgressions. The book Glad Tidings is full of Spiritualism and I had to stopped reading it because it is very subtil. Jones and Waggoner were supportive of Kelloggs prior to 1888. Why were there no recordings of what happened in the 1888 meetings? Why is the sda church telling the people a pack of Lies? Please sir do your research because the Truth as Christ said will make us free. Waggoner believed in Justification only and it stopped there. However, this is not what the Bible teaches...it goes beyond...Sanctification is the work of a lifetime. Now will have to unsubscribe because now realize why so many of God's people will be lost. Pray and God will help you, myself and His true people to come to a knowledge of His Truth so that we can be sealed by the Living God and not by the 3 Trinity gods as sdas believe. God Bless.

Did Ellen White say that the Law spoken of in Galatians we’re both a ceremonial law and the moral law?

    • @finalatonement1844

Both Jones and Waggoner received correction from Ellen White on the issue of sanctification. It is true that Waggoner and Jones taught that the cleansing of the sanctuary meant the cleansing of the soul temple. In SDA literature like Woodrow Whidden's biography of EJ Waggoner, this view of cleansing of the soul temple is linked to Kelloggs pantheism. I find this suspect because Whidden, Knight and others from Andrews seminary are adamant against sanctification and character perfection. If you have info on spiritualism in the Glad Tidings I would be interesting to learn.

Glad you ask and at this point have to apologize because in the process of moving and so do not have my notes. However, Galatians 3 is mainly referring to the ceremonial law.
Waggoner's father was rebuked by E G White about him misunderstanding Galatians and thought it was speaking of the Moral law when God showed the prophetess that Paul spoke of the ceremonial law. Waggoner's father was silent about it. However, he taught the same error to his son...so his son believed the Moral law was done away with. Why do you think he divorced his wife and married another woman? This was not right in the sight of God. We need to go back to the original writings to discover the truths that are in Jesus. No sensible mathematician will say that add means spoken...add means add, subtract means subtract, etc. The Lord loves you my brother/sister and His word is plain and simple to understand as William Miller rightly said. May God bless you. And please feel free to contact me if you have anymore questions. Do apologize as mentioned before because need to provide you with references and will do so as we settle. God bless.

@@finalatonement1844 someone sent me the book on line to read because the person supported Jones and Waggoner. However, in all fairness I started to read it and discovered for myself that it contained spiritualism and prayed and was directed to stop reading it. It sounded so much like the things which Kelloggs believed. Kelloggs and either Jones or Waggoner attended the same worldly university and that is probably where they were taught pantheism. Sad indeed...and polluted the church with it. First commandment...thou shalt have no other gods before me. Is it any wonder why today the church worships 3 trinity gods which is not biblical and is catholism?
