Embark on a captivating journey from Kanyakumari to Rameshwaram, a sacred pilgrimage that unfolds across stunning landscapes. The adventure begins with a scenic train ride along the coast, culminating at Mandapam station. From there, I hopped on local transport to reach the Rameshwaram bus stand. By a stroke of luck, my visit coincided with the auspicious Amawasya of Saawan, attracting thousands of devotees to the Rameshwaram temple
After settling in, I rented a cab and ventured out to explore the enchanting Dhanushkodi, a place of haunting beauty with its ghost town remains. My next stop was the House of Kalam, the childhood home of India's esteemed former President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. I also bought a traditional dhoti in preparation for my visit to the revered Ramanathaswamy temple.
As dusk fell and bathed the town in a golden light, I headed to the temple after performing a purifying ritual in the sacred 22 Theerthams, each believed to possess unique cleansing properties. Dressed in traditional attire, I finally entered the temple for a divine darshan. The atmosphere was filled with devotion and spirituality, making for a deeply moving experience.
