good instruction video, as a 1st dan in aiki jujitsu, we were told to keep the opponents wrist in contact or close to your body. this will increase the strength on his wrist. be ready for the opponents counter. but rolling or staying to the opponents outside, is always safer, as explained in the video.

Excellent video. The instructions were clear, thorough and you went slow enough for people to follow. Most do it so fast that the videos are essentially useless so it's basically them just showing off.

Retired military, former law enforcement and combatives/MMA instructor here. Good explanation of a reverse wrist lock. I would recommend elevating the right elbow to protect the face when attempting this technique. A distraction technique prior to execution should also be taught/drilled/utilized. The most simple and reliable distraction is a quick slap with the back of the hand/fingers to the facial area, primarily directed at the eyes. The purpose of this is to cause the aggressor to begin backwards motion and reduce their muscular tension, increasing the possibility of success with this technique.
With that being said, I used to describe this technique (and others) as "aging college professor and elderly grandmother" techniques. Meaning that they are much more likely to be successful if one attempting the technique is physically stronger than the other person. Size and strength matter unless there is an extreme disparity of fighting skill and they still matter... Anyone that disagrees with that needs to experience a few more fights and join an MMA gym.
This technique "may" work on someone that you are physically stronger than and doesn't know what you are doing. Trying this on an enraged man that has fighting skill and bench presses 400lbs, squats 500lbs and deadlifts 600lbs and one may experience something a little different...
Please do not be lulled into a false sense of security with techniques demonstrated in a static, controlled and consensual setting. Pressure test your techniques in a dynamic, uncontrolled and non-consensual setting to determine what works and what doesn't...

The muscle on top of forearm just before elbow, when sharply struck is very painful and paralyzes that arm for several seconds and arm drops. I have used that followed by elbow strike to ribs. It was very effective. Though I am a fan of control of wrist and fingers as well.

  • @Ominous89
    @Ominous89 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I've had another experience where a friend of mine grabbed my wrist he managed to place his thumb on the pressure point in the wrist. He simply pressed his thumb down and got me down on my knees with only one hand. It's triggering a natural body reaction wich causes you to fall down on your knees. The back of your knees also cause the same body reaction. You simply collapse because you lose your balance when those pressure points are hit. So there are many ways for grabbing, but it also helps a lot if you know the weak spots of the human body.

I’m on your guys’ email hotlist, just wanted to say I was skeptical the first time I ordered from you guys just because the website isn’t the best design for a legitimate professional retailer, and also it ended up taking about a month to actually arrive and I wasn’t giving tracking info or even a confirmation number. However, when my order did finally show up I must say I was very surprised and super happy with the quality of the items I bought, ESPECIALLY considering how affordable everything was. I purchased 4 of the daggers as they were on sale at $15 a piece and didn’t expect much, but they are actually awesome quality blades and even have a well designed handle with grip built in, so much better than the cheap crappy cord wrapping a lot of the fixed blades you see online come with that fall apart after minimal use or the first time the wrap gets wet at all. I also purchased one of your folding tactical pocket knives again a gorgeous high quality blade with a quick release notch built into the blade itself that sticks out from the handle when closed. Even the handle is really nice quality with a sturdy clip, built in bottle opener and a glass breaker on the back end, for less than $20 it’s just as good and even better quality than almost every $40-60 dollar folding knife I’ve ever owned besides my favorite Gerber.

    Good explanation, good technique.
I would suggest not moving the hands (yours & his) so far in front of your body. Keep the hands close to your chest and your elbows bent. The closer to your center of gravity the more control you have over all. It makes a difference.
I realize this is an old video therefore my comment is unlikely to be read but I found the video so its still getting pushed by TH-cam.

In that instance, keeping hand trapped while turning maintains better control ability setting up a (pulling in elbow) “Z” reverse peel . Removing and peeling encourages countering with kick for example. No disrespect intended.

I like what you said bob about escaping and not searching for damage ..heating people is evil , trying to avoid bloody contact is always a moral and it means you are a real humain being ..keep safe, self defence and specialy be a man of morals and compassion that's how you defeat all your enemies ..

If you do not wish to inflict pain then those that do will target you. Bullies live liberal logic. If you have to go through the trouble of a simple wrist lock, then make him wish he'd minded his own business. Nothing better than mashing a bullies nose to teach him a lesson.

No offense, but I don't think that's a good mentality to have. If you can escape do it, there's no shame in that. If you're properly trained and unless your attacker is trying to kill you or someone else, there isn't a good reason to inflict permanent damage on someone. They may have crossed a line or be having a bad day, but that's not a reason to cripple someone for the rest of their life. A little empathy goes a long way =)

As a Hapkido instructor I don't have any issues with what is shown here.....pointing the finger is called key finger in Hapkido allows for extra torque. My only additive is elbows in and keep everything near your body.....space with joint locks is a no no .Use your whole body and grind the attacker to the ground.

As a retired Green Beret I continue with my self-defense training because I think it is so important to keep up with it. I even have my own Online Training Site for teaching others. I won't share it here but if you want to know about it contact me somehow.

Very clear spoken and easy for people to understand. Especially the basic physiology behind the movement. It is always good to reemphasize as you did escape and evasion in situations. We use to also teach tactical avoidance as well. Good basics.
