    Thanks for the book! I have really put on weight since the start of the pandemic. Almost no workouts, all the kids at home, no sleep, all routines out the window and BAM! Heavy weight classed!

      Ahh I'm sorry to hear Kristian, it's happened to a lot of people especially with kids being home but hopefully them going back to school soon should help get more of a routine together

    What is the risk of a “starvation mode” adaptation from a calorie deficit, leading your body holding on to fat?

    • @WillGirling
      @WillGirling  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn't really exist buddy if you're in a calorie deficit you will drop body fat/ weight. There is some metabolic slowing from long term calorie restriciton but it's still minor and nothing to really worry about

    golden syrup sub in the US? I currently have maple, honey and molasses in the house but could grab anything

    • @WillGirling
      @WillGirling  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oooooo good question - not sure sure how molasses would taste but you want something thick. Try dividing the mixture into two or three and try the different options (cooking time will change for the bar then though)

    Hi Will ,
    Great advice there . I fall into the last category of getting my steps in (18000 average a day ) plus 3 bike session’s a week and the maybe a trx session once a week . On 2059 calories a day and probably hitting 100-150 over some days and I can’t lose any weight .
    Main problem is I am a shift worker and coming in from a 2-10 shift I will get a couple on beck blues ( non alcohol beer ) with cheese and crackers . Now these are within my calorie count but I am still struggling to lose weight . Been eating loads of fruit but not much veg ( mon on 2-10 shift ) . Any tips !!! 🤞🤞🤞

      only the liver can process and store fruit (fructose), so gaining weight especially in the belly as the liver stores fat from fructose in the liver and when it is full it stores fat outside the liver thus givivng a belly.
      When we lived in the cave we only got fruit in the summer and we stored it as fat in the liver so that we could survive the winter, we are'nt supposed to be eating fruit all year round

    • @WillGirling
      @WillGirling  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Bob thanks for reachign out! Are you surey you're doing 18,000 steps as thats ALOT and if you're doing that and 3 cycling sessions I you should from what I can speculate be in a deficit but depends on your body mass etc.
      But I would try eating a bit more on riding days, less on rest days. nad make sure everythign is meticulous. Most people who find they arent' losing fat is because they aren't actually in a deficit. So, go back to your tracking and ensure it's all tracked with no guessing.
      Sleep and night shifts will play a contributer but won't be the sole factor. Woulnd't worry about fruit and fructose. The amounts Jonas is talking of you need a monstrous amount... like honestly silly levels.

      Will Girling , definitely done those steps a day . I walk my dog 2 to 3 times a day plus I am constantly on my feet at work . I log my food as best as I can with MyFitnessPal but I probably don’t eat enough fruit and veg .
      Just altered that this week to see how it goes .
      Thanks for your reply 👍

    Is it possible (and easy) to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time as well as maintain power/energy. Or easier to gain muscle first and get a bit fatter and then lose the fat later. Im trying to gain muscle but am also gaining fat!

    • @WillGirling
      @WillGirling  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible yes of course but I would focus on one solid goal and if you have sufficient protein the muscle will come anyway
