    They grow all over the hills around me, growing on rocky hills. Of course here in the far east we have no spagnum moss, so they grow in a mix of soil, stones and sand. To germinate sprinkle seed on soil surface, spray, cover and a week later growing.

    Thanks for the informative videos! I decided to take the plunge. I purchased a "Nepenthes maxima (Yamada x JB) Wavy Leaves" seed pod from Carnivero. It was harvested in April. I'll just put the seeded pot(s) off to the side in my tent, in the light, and try to ignore them for a while... only giving them an occasional glance to check moisture until I see some activity. "Fingers are crossed!"

      @@Carnivorousplanthelp I'm going to experiment with those seeds. I want to divide the seeds into 3 batches. One batch will be planted as prescribed, atop sphagnum moss. The second batch will be briefly washed in a 1:9 H2O2/water solution, then planted atop the moss. The third batch will be washed with the H2O2 solution, then be planted atop an Orchid culture medium, kinda like doing a tissue culture. I'm curious to see how the 'unusual' methods of sowing seeds will perform as compared to the traditional standard. If you know of anyone who has tried this before, I'd really like to know what the end results showed!

    Hello 9 I have a question sundews
    1.)How often do sundews need to eat?
    2.)Can you feed a sundew with an earthworm?
    3.)Can you feed sundews fish flakes?
    4.)What can you do with sundew flowers?
    5.)What can I feed my Drosera apart from worms
    6.)Can sundews eat crickets?
    7.) Are sundews self pollinating?
    8.) Can you put sundews in a Mini greenhouse 58 cm x 40 cm?

    • @Carnivorousplanthelp
      @Carnivorousplanthelp  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey!! All great questions!! You can feed them every 2 to 3 weeks but can feed them as often as weekly if you like. You can feed them earthworms for the larger sundews but that might be too big of a meal to do regularly. Fish flakes are a great choice, just crumble it between your fingers and sprinkle it on the dew. Most are self pollinating and you don’t have to do anything! They will open their flower, close, and create a pod. Not all do this but several do. Dried insects are a great option but if you don’t want to do that you can use diluted masses to spray on them. Sundews LOVE crickets! You can buy dried crickets at most pet stores. Just make sure they don’t have added nutrients. Most are self pollinating, depending on the type you have. A mini greenhouse would be perfect for them!

      @@Carnivorousplanthelp ok
      What should you pay attention to when purchasing? 🤔
      1.)Mini greenhouse with a heated bottom 37x23xh21cm - for germinating and rooting plants
      2.) Self-watering greenhouse / propagator 37.5x13.5xh16cm
      3.) Mini greenhouse with heated bottom + Self-watering 37.5x13.5xh16cm

    • @Carnivorousplanthelp
      @Carnivorousplanthelp  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sundews aren’t too picky. They can handle temps around 10 C to 35 C or 50F to 95F. They can handle a good range. I would say anything that will give them plenty of light. They love bright light and lots of it. They need minimum 6 hours but I would say up to 12. However the my are every tolerant. Depending on your location, heating might be a need but they don’t require heat to germinate. They do like airflow but not as much as nepenthes. So a fan can be used for that or if you are getting a greenhouse, the vents will be fine if opened.

      No lid on pot as my grow tent always have > 80% humidity day and > 90% night with good air flow.

    hi, Ahoj I'm new to the carnivorous plant scene help. I recently bought sundew seeds on Amazon. Drosera seeds 100 seeds (Mix)
    1.) Do filter jugs make sense?
    2.) Is sundew from a filter jug healthy?
    3) I was told that boiled and then cooled water is good for sundews. Can anyone confirm this?
    5) Should we hand feed them at some point? as the domes are closed at the seedling stage to maintain humidity, preventing insects from entering.
    6._Should we open the dome every few days to get some fresh air?
    7)I would like to, I thought. catching rainwater. ?
    9) I wish, I thought. catching snow water?
    sorry if my english is not good 🙁

      Hey! No worries. I can help! Sundews are fun and easy growing plants. You need a pot with holes in the bottom. Place the pot in a tray with water up to about an inch or so up the bottom of the pot. They like their soil damp but not water logged. You will want to use peat moss as the soil and use distilled water or rain water. They like at least 12 hours of light or more. You can feed the flies if you like or use a heavily diluted max sea fertilizer. If you keep them outside they can just catch their own food!
