As far as fears go, we all have some or the other kinds. I too use to have some such as 'Acrophobia' and 'Aquaphobia' until I decided to face them and overcome it. When it comes to facing our fear, preparation is the key. So I thought Bungy jump into a pool of water would be a brilliant way of facing my both the fears head on.
The moment I was at the jumping platform and looking down and that was so terrifying and I kept imaginaning over and over again jumping out of the board to have a free fall and then this feeling started running down in my mind, "Is this really necessary to do so"? I couldn't figure out, why I would do that?
So I get there and I had this large elastic cord tied to my both legs and given some safety briefs prior to it at the base station where I was asked to sign a waiver form which described all the odds that may happen or could go wrong. So I am out there at the jumping platform and kept thinking what I was made aware about few moments earlier.
And then this sirent blows up and the gate opened up for me. I walked up to the end of that board and I was standing and my toes were on the edge to jump from 165 ft which is almost as high as 15 to 16 storyed building and I was looking out down to DEATH !!!
And in that moment at such extreme and dangerous height at the edge of the platform my normal fear turned into intense anxiety. Short breaths and my rapid heartbeats as if it was racing at Grand prix. Rest all of my body and senses came to rock bottom.
The best and the worst part about the whole thing was that no one was even going to push you. The whole effort to dare to do so has to come from within you and just by you. Apparently by then my feet almost got frozen to the board. Well eventually I gather some courage to do so and the very next second I realized that it was one of my extremely astounding and thrilling experiences of my life.
The lesson for me was, why I was so scared before that jump!!! Why do I need that fear for. "What doesn't kills us, makes us stronger".
