Never listened to tribe before but i just listened to this whole record earlier today and i rly like it! Is it a good place to start or should I really check out their old stuff before?
The Low End Theory is most's introduction. Their first four are all great. This one as well. The Love Movement is passable, but surprisingly good for a lowpoint.
pcrawley513 I listened to Tribe when it came out. And Vice City is not played out, it's a great album imo and one of the best this year. It's the first album I've ever bought, so no it ain't
If you look at the history of black masculinity, homophobia has a lot to do with what very prominent black leaders have promoted, because homosexuality was seen to threaten the cause of bringing black men into powerful roles. The Black Panthers and East Coast black power movements in the 60s and 70s were homophobic as a rule. I'm not making value judgements, or excuses, but in the context of the civil rights and black power movements it's simple to follow the threads of homophobia throughout the decades. It's still a struggle for black LGBT people today.
I hoped for a 10, but anyways a good job Anthony. You introdced me to ATCQ with your classics review, so thanks. This is tied with Atrocity Exhibition and The impossible Kid for my favourite rap album this year.
Wait someone said the dog actually did die. I'm sorry Antnee I didn't know. My hedgehog died recently while I was in Japan so I know how much it hurts :((((
While this year has no definitive legendary record like TPAB was last year, it has been full of stuff right below it like this Tribe album, Telefone, Atrocity Exhibition, and looking into other genres at gems like Lemonade, Blonde, and Malibu. A great all around year for music with a large quantity of quality. A rare combination.
JeyEL really? I thought it was pretty meh for Aesop's standards. Definitely a solid project but I like this, Untitled Unmastered, and the new Czarface better.
I feel like impossible kid was his most accessible and personal album. it also becomes easier to relate to because he feels so much less aloof on it. He manages to invite you in while still not sacrificing the intelligence and eccentricity in his rhymes. there are a lot of great beats too.
Great Review Brother I agree with everything you said. As a die hard ATCQ fan since 1990 it's nice to see that these Four brothers still got it. There's a few things I would of done differently with this album like the mixing of some songs or who was featured on it. But I get it Q Tip was probably feeling creative and just wanted to try something new with this ATCQ album. I was a little disappointed that more Native Tongues members weren't featured on it. De La Soul, Queen Latifah, Black Sheep, Common, Jungle Brothers etc to name a few. And it would of been dope to give us one more dope Posse cut something like "Scenario" but obviously different. Out of 5 Stars I give this album a 4 a lot of People have said it's a classic but there's a few things missing that's why I didn't agree with them. Their first three albums however is a different story but it's still all good. Some of my favourite tracks of this LP are "Black Spasmodic, "Kids", "Dis Generation", "The Killing Season" and "Melatonin" in that order. Thank you ATCQ RIP Phife Dawg
Two Decades was really worth the wait.

Wow...I was six-months-old the last time ATCQ released an album.
Al Smith damn me too
My mom didn't even fuck my dad yet the last time Tribe put out an album
Edgar Martinez We freshmen in college now xD
11LuStar 3 yng
I don't know my dad tho so
where the fuck is the new metallica album review. plz
he gon give it like a 6 if he reviews it
Too big of a name to not review I would think. Even if it was meh, and it was.
we don't wanna know about that shit fam.
Hold your engines it's the other review, it's there. Metallica hasn't been good since Justice For All. Saved you time.
Neal Damiano black album*
Sorry for you lose Anthony, puppy heaven is real though! Cute outro
Morbius
Morbius
Just adding another entry in the list of “albums Fantano should’ve given a 10 instead of a 9”
Never listened to tribe before but i just listened to this whole record earlier today and i rly like it! Is it a good place to start or should I really check out their old stuff before?
Maël De Luca Check the old stuff just for the fuck of it
The Low End Theory is most's introduction. Their first four are all great. This one as well. The Love Movement is passable, but surprisingly good for a lowpoint.
Jack Windrammer
don't ask don't ask don't even ask me
don't skip around you heard this one. Go to the beginning. To the first album. And hear the progression.
Mathew Howard That was a totally unintentional death grips reference lol
Cant believe he put morbius in the least fav track!
Midnight Maurders is better than the low end theory
Yes
ur dog is cute bro
Gio Bouzi r.i.p
...this is right up there...a rap classic in my eyes.
review the new tinashe please. It's not getting enough recognition.
sorry about your loss Anthony, we appreciate you working to make vids thru it. Thank U 4 Your service
sad 2016 didnt offer any 10/10s
or did it
i dont remember
just checked.
it didnt.
Tucker Grams yet
Tucker Grams It did, Atrocity Exhibition, but Anthony missed the score on that one
+Mateus Murozaki Exactly. Best hip hop album of the decade.
true i loved it, but i did understand the minor problems fantano had with it
Just review Vice City by Anonymuz already
Sesese Masondo go listen to tribe bruh, vice city is played out.
pcrawley513 I listened to Tribe when it came out. And Vice City is not played out, it's a great album imo and one of the best this year. It's the first album I've ever bought, so no it ain't
Shit why did you have to bring up that homophobic b-side, I'll never look at their work from that era the same way again
Ryan Don't forget the censored line in Oh My God.
It's still a struggle for black LGBT people today.
very well put
TheMattmatic What censored oh my god line?
This is the Hip-Hop album of the Year
ALBUM of the Year
This is the best album I have heard from a group that has lost a part of its soul like Phife, seriously something special here.
R.I.P Phife.
That's partially because Phife recorded all of his vocals with the group just before he died.
Question: Why is Jack White everywhere?
I hoped for a 10, but anyways a good job Anthony. You introdced me to ATCQ with your classics review, so thanks. This is tied with Atrocity Exhibition and The impossible Kid for my favourite rap album this year.
*introduced
As soon as Anthony said 9 I knew this was going to be a good album
am I the only one that thinks that mobius is one of the best tracks
THAT BUSTA VERSE, man he was sleeping on it. Some of the craziest flows I've heard
good album. It will make you get into their older music if you weren't into them already. Fav track is whateva will be.
Frank Wave I love that track to.
After listening & loving this Tribe album, I had to go back and listen to the earlier albums I have by them.
Frank Wave good call: whateva will be is the best track on the album
Fanta, thank you for the good review.
This review had NO IDEA that 2020 was coming
I'm glad to see your dog i thought you killed it
Wait someone said the dog actually did die. I'm sorry Antnee I didn't know. My hedgehog died recently while I was in Japan so I know how much it hurts :((((
Jaimie Knox lmao nigga had a hedgehog
While this year has no definitive legendary record like TPAB was last year, it has been full of stuff right below it like this Tribe album, Telefone, Atrocity Exhibition, and looking into other genres at gems like Lemonade, Blonde, and Malibu. A great all around year for music with a large quantity of quality. A rare combination.
I'm sorry about your dog Anthony.
Should have been a 10/10 tbh
I think The Impossible Kid was in 2016 a better rap album, however, this really brought me back to the good ol days
JeyEL That's exactly the I feel. TIK is totally album of the year for me...so far.
JeyEL really? I thought it was pretty meh for Aesop's standards. Definitely a solid project but I like this, Untitled Unmastered, and the new Czarface better.
Brandon Standifer They're definetly greats of this year. I just found the personal lyricism and the dark rhythm n beat to TIK more engaging
I feel like impossible kid was his most accessible and personal album. it also becomes easier to relate to because he feels so much less aloof on it. He manages to invite you in while still not sacrificing the intelligence and eccentricity in his rhymes. there are a lot of great beats too.
Upon listening to ATCQ's album over and over again, i cannot deny the genius of this album, I think im suayded
10/10 for Tribe. AOTY
He rated the album a 9. You're welcome.
Jake Fisherman the rating is Always in the description.. lol
Jake Fisherman Hold this L moron.
man that ending really got me....
Q-tip was on top form in this album..
