    No, do not cut the content. That's what makes your videos better than others (to me). Many times I've watched your 20 minute videos and felt like 10 minutes had passed and wished it could have been longer. I like that you often stop if you see a place that might be interesting instead of sticking to a planned route. The editing is done well so that nothing ever drags on.

    Ok if you want my opinion: I think you do too many hotel tours, maybe make a separate video for those, most people aren't looking for a room, especially now. But it's your channel, follow your bliss, as they say. I really appreciate your efforts, you make great videos that take me back nearly 20 years and inspire me to go back one day. And you finally remembered to pronounce ko phangan correctly! 😅🌴👍

      Thanks but in my prev vid I visited restaurants, hotels, condos, bars, shops + an entire beach + more (to me, this is how to properly show a place to viewers & it takes a lot of effort). Meanwhile, a youtuber lady sat at a single restaurant I visited and did an entire video on it, talking throughout and got 10X more views (good on her too:). Another chap typically films a couple places, chats through the vids and also gets far more views. Another couple usually films just 1 or 2 places, chats through and also gets great views. Not disparaging this at all, they're smart for doing so, having found a simplified format which gets great views. Meanwhile, I'm filming 10-20X+ more content, which takes 10-20X+ more effort & time to make but gets far fewer views. Makes me think I need to change my format. IE: film/edit far less content and instead add more filler/chat/b-roll (for potentially far more views, ironically with far less effort;) This appears to be what most on YT want and reward.

    • @mesamis1
      @mesamis1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SideTripLife We're just subscribers who happen to love your videos and presentation style as is. If you feel you have to do this for economic reasons who are we to argue. In my opinion you have a far more eclectic viewership than your average TH-camr who, as you say, has more viewers but considerably less content and info. But again I'm here in Ireland. Easy to comment. My wife and I look forward to your videos so much. You've opened our eyes to so much more outside of Samui ( our default hol destination). But you're on the front line so to speak. Maybe give it a go for a while. You won't know til you try. We will still tune in for what it's worth.

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you R B. I've just come to the undeniable conclusion that to remain viable, content is not the key ingredient, rather one must primarily be a 'showman' / entertainer / presenter and I am none of these (nor wish to be really;) Will keep on with same format for now, albeit a tad wearily looking at similar prospects going fwd if I'm honest. Thanks again, it's viewers such as you which inspire me . STL

    • @mesamis1
      @mesamis1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi STL. I wonder could I pose a question to you. Looks like we'll have to cancel Samui again for November as we don't have the time available to have our holiday AND do the required hotel stay. So again very envious watching your videos but we do realise it's hard work too. My question is as you travel around to different parts of Thailand and it's otherworldly beauty do you see it and appreciate it fully or are you 'switched on' the whole time in that every stunning vista you see is material for your brilliant videos. In other words is your first reaction one of awe at the beauty or is it 'that I'll make great content'. I ask because my wife loves the scenery in my town but as I've lived here I don't see it anymore. Hope I make sense🤞

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With Samui + program can roam hotel pool, grounds and direct beach if any on days 1-3 then free to roam the island and after 7 days, then free to go to Tao, Phuket etc. But the 1st 7 days costs at limited AQ hotel are a non-starter for most. So what to do? Samui in November may look very different but this is a tough call.
      If airline tix are refundable or a credit assured, personally would wait and see. This week there'll be announcements lessening some local restrictions. Then, as higher domestic numbers get vaxxed by say Oct, more restrictions may be eased, also the AQ requirement for Samui. I'm guessing this will be morphed to the much less costly & multiple choice (150) SHA hotels soon. Then next phase, show digital vax cert (+booster upcoming) and neg insta test and good to go. This is just my feeling on how it may go.
      Regarding do I take time to stop and appreciate the beauty? Absolutely! I generally film a few days then camera off and just enjoy the rest of the time (in between editing etc;). I also often return to nice places, just to enjoy and again, camera off.

      Thanks Super Spurs. I have to show a QR code which has my past 4 months travel info and shows I've been in the same zone for past 3. Therefor I am currently allowed to move around within that same zone. However, if living here and coming from Red or Dark Red zones, must also show a neg test result.
      If coming from overseas, need to 1st apply for COE (certificate of entry) via your Thai Embassy. Then either book direct to Samui or Phuket for 7 day ASQ/AQ (but free to roam locally after 1st day and neg test result). Samui AQ hotels are more expensive as they are required to provide more stringent standards. Phuket is cheaper, with many lower budget ASQ hotels to choose from. Phuket will also allow ability to travel to Samui, Railay Beach, Phi Phi, Koh Yao Noi/Yai after just 7 days from Aug 1.
      There's only a few cases on the Islands at present (touch wood) but there is 'talk' of making a rapid test mandatory (500 baht) at ferry ports. Anecdotally, at present they are only applying this to some non-resident arrivals. More on this see FB 'Koh Tao Community Board UNCENSORED' and 'Samui Info By Nicha' and 'Koh Phangan Conscious Community' as these groups are fairly active.
      Ediit: Forgot to add, I am in Sri Thanu area on KPG but more vids to follow from all round the island.

      Usually is as Samui's main rainy season is between Sept-ish to Dec-ish. But also start of stormy season so can get the odd one in Aug too.
