  • SHRIMP with SQUASH and GREEN BEANS in COCONUT MILK | Ginataang Shrimp with Kalabasa and Green Beans
    GINATAANG HIPON with KALABASA at SITAW or GREEN BEANS is one of well known Filipino dish.
    The coconut milk on this dish infuses a delicious flavor combined with the shrimp and squash. The squash gives a natural sweetness to the creaminess of the coconut milk which makes this dish so delightful. So quick and easy to make. Easy recipe to satisfy your cravings!     Here is how to make GINATAANG HIPON with KALABASA:
    GINATAANG HIPON with KALABASA :
    Ingredients:
    1 lb shrimp, cleaned. trimmed and deveined,
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 thumb ginger, julienned
    7 cloves garlic, minced
    1 smal squash, cubed
    1 cup green beans, cut into 2 in length
    2 medium green chilies
    2 red chilies
    2 cups coconut milk
    3 tbsp shrimp paste
    1 tbsp fish sauce
    1 tsp salt, divided
    1/2 tsp pepper, divided
    Directions:
    1. Wash shrimp thoroughly. Trim the deveined.
    2. In a large wok or pan, heat oil over medium high heat. Add ginger, onion and garlic, cook until fragrant.
    3. Add the shrimp paste. Stir until spread evenly
    4. Add the squash. Stir until all squash is completed covered with shrimp paste.
    5. Add coconut milk. Stir then cover with lid and let it simmer over medium heat for 10 mins or until squash is tender. Stir occassionally.
    6. Add the shrimp, green beans and green chilies. Stir until well coated with sauce. Cover with lid and let it simmer over medium heat until shrimp turns bright orange.
    7. Add the red chilies and fish sauce or salt. Season with pepper. Stir until well combined.
    8. Continue to simmer for 2 mins.
    9. Serve and Enjoy! Best served with steamed rice.
